Brown Angel Posted September 6, 2013 #1 Posted September 6, 2013 I went and disconnected the cb and the air pump computer to fix the crack I had on the plastic. When I put it back together for some reason I know have a tick in my radio from the engine!!! Drives me crazy! Please help me , I have a 86 Venture Royale .
dacheedah Posted September 6, 2013 #2 Posted September 6, 2013 did you change plugs too. Check your power and ground connections and make sure they are tight, clean and away from other wires.
Yammer Dan Posted September 6, 2013 #3 Posted September 6, 2013 You moved a plug wire around somehow. If you had all that plastic out probally close to coils. Make sure you still have them all in the coils snug.
bongobobny Posted September 6, 2013 #4 Posted September 6, 2013 Clean all the contacts to the CB and make sure they are all tight. I would suspect the real source is the "Y" adapter for the antenna has a dirty ground, especially the one that goes from the splitter to the radio. Make sure the splitter has a good clean ground as well...
Brown Angel Posted September 6, 2013 Author #5 Posted September 6, 2013 I'm trying to imagine the Y adapter! You have any pics of what I should look at and for? I will check the coil ends plugged in. Spark plugs too.
bongobobny Posted September 6, 2013 #6 Posted September 6, 2013 The Y adapter is the box that is mounted on the end of the CB. It has a square frame mount. Just follow the CB antenna jack from the CB back to a box that has 3 coax wires on it, one from the antenna, one to the CB, and one to the FM tuner...
Brown Angel Posted September 7, 2013 Author #7 Posted September 7, 2013 Bob you'll not believe what it was!! I took it apart to check like you said and on the very bottom of the cb is a cable that has like 5pins in it and it wasn't plugged in....
bongobobny Posted September 7, 2013 #10 Posted September 7, 2013 Ah Ah... and then along came Jones, long faced Jones. Slow talkin' Jones, Slow walkin' Jones...
Squidley Posted September 7, 2013 #11 Posted September 7, 2013 Ah Ah... and then along came Jones, long faced Jones. Slow talkin' Jones, Slow walkin' Jones... Along came lonely, lanky Jones....Ray Stevens
Brown Angel Posted September 7, 2013 Author #12 Posted September 7, 2013 And then I turned the bike on and NO TICKING!!!
