syscrusher Posted September 5, 2013 #1 Posted September 5, 2013 This part costs $20 to $30 and it seems to bolt the exhaust pipe on under the passenger footboards and those aluminum panels that carry the footboard hinge. Does anyone have a description to offer? Why so expensive? My right ankle is getting awfully hot riding around town and I'm wondering if I'm supposed to have a ceramic spacer or something there?
DragonRider Posted September 5, 2013 #2 Posted September 5, 2013 I think I know the part, but a picture of what it looks like would help. Being a damper I assume its the rubber insert that goes into it to cushion the bolt that attaches the foot rest mount. MiCarl Posted September 5, 2013 #3 Posted September 5, 2013 It's a cushion where the muffler attaches to the frame. It installs exactly where you described. It won't have anything to do with keeping the rider foot from getting hot. It costs so much because they can...... I've found that I tend to rest my right foot against the clutch housing. The boot heats up and my foot gets quite warm. If I remember to leave a bit of an air gap I'm much more comfortable.
syscrusher Posted September 6, 2013 Author #4 Posted September 6, 2013 Thanks for the responses. I didn't want to reply back until I had a chance to look again at the footpeg position Carl. The heat that you are experiencing is not the same as what I get unfortunately. My ankle gets hot and mainly on the rearward portion, I'm pretty sure from the plate that carries the hinge where the rear footboard is. I think I'm going to need to pull that off and have a look.
