Stealthblade Posted September 4, 2013 #1 Posted September 4, 2013 I have been following this forum since I found the bike I wanted to buy. You all have so much knowledge and insight into this particular bike that I instantly felt at home. I came here to find out real world info about the Venture and... yeah buddy... I found it here. I brought my new baby home today and here she is. I look forward to stumbling my way through several mod threads and begging for advice.
Squidley Posted September 4, 2013 #2 Posted September 4, 2013 Welcome to the forum, lots of info on the site and if/when you have a question let us hear it. There is also a search bar up top that will help greatly when trying to narrow threads down for issues or problems should they arise
Flyinfool Posted September 4, 2013 #3 Posted September 4, 2013 Welcome aboard. We will be happy to help you spend your money on mods.:mo money:
Stealthblade Posted September 4, 2013 Author #4 Posted September 4, 2013 I feel like we are friends all ready.
Huggy Posted September 4, 2013 #5 Posted September 4, 2013 Well I don't think you will need to beg for help. Everyone here is more then happy to help. I'm fairly new to the forum and I've found the members more then willing to help! There may be times when it feels like it is slow in coming but not all members are familiar with every aspect of these bikes. Be patient, do lots of searches and when you cannot find what you are looking for let it be known that you have searched and you will get your answers. Or at least pointed in the right direction and to the right person who will be more than happy to help! I have been on here a couple of moths and have not been disappointed when it comes to the willingness of fellow members when I get stuck. And welcome to the family!
Stealthblade Posted September 4, 2013 Author #6 Posted September 4, 2013 I have been reading these forums so much lately I shouldn't admit it, but at least the wife is on her yearly Cancun vacation with her mother, so I have nobody to answer to. Who needs Cancun when you have a motorcycle? One thing I have not seen is a windshield like the one on this bike. It has 2 circular openings for ventilation. Anyone know what it is? Also, the previous owner was from, I think Iowa, and he installed a button on the tank tie next to the filler that nobody at the dealer knows what it operates. I'm gonna wait until late late late fall to take a look for the endpoint of the wires.
Squidley Posted September 4, 2013 #7 Posted September 4, 2013 If you can, post a pic of the vents in your windshield. I used to do a mod to quite a few windshields that I installed a round aircraft vent in them for circulation.
syscrusher Posted September 4, 2013 #8 Posted September 4, 2013 I hope it's not that ejection seat mod.
Stealthblade Posted September 4, 2013 Author #9 Posted September 4, 2013 In the attachment, you can see 2 little circles in the screen. I'll try to put up another picture
Freebird Posted September 4, 2013 #10 Posted September 4, 2013 That could be any windshield. Those are aftermarket vents and many of us have installed them in various shields.
Stealthblade Posted September 4, 2013 Author #11 Posted September 4, 2013 That's what I was wondering, if it was a mod or not. Thanks
Squidley Posted September 4, 2013 #12 Posted September 4, 2013 Those are the ones, I'll bet money they were bought from Aircraft Spruce.I installed many of those on the 2nd gen windshields, I still have the hole saw that I used to cut the holes in the windshields. If I may ask, do you know or remember what the persons name was that you bought the bike from?
cowpuc Posted September 4, 2013 #13 Posted September 4, 2013 Hey Stealth, GORGEOUS bike!!! You think reading about these guys and their knowledge is amazing it gets even better. 1st chance you get, jump on that puppy and go meet some of these rascals... WELCOME ABOARD! Puc
Stealthblade Posted September 4, 2013 Author #14 Posted September 4, 2013 Squidley, I think the guy was from Iowa, but I will ask the dealer tomorrow if they will tell me. Couple things that might make it memorable is that there is a small black button right side of the fuel filler and I found a 38 special casing in the right saddlebag hehe
Stealthblade Posted September 4, 2013 Author #15 Posted September 4, 2013 Thanks Puc, I fell in love as soon as I saw that bike. The feeling only got better the more I spent with it.
Stealthblade Posted September 4, 2013 Author #16 Posted September 4, 2013 I hope it's not that ejection seat mod. good thing I only tried it in ACC mode lol
bongobobny Posted September 4, 2013 #17 Posted September 4, 2013 Welcome aboard!!! Yes, we will be glad to spend your money for you! Hope we can advise you with helpful tips, technical advice when you need it, and friendship all of the time!!!
ragtop69gs Posted September 4, 2013 #18 Posted September 4, 2013 That button could be for the smoke screen when making your get-away, it may need a refill ! Or, it may be an ignition by-pass. Or to flash the passing lamps.
Caveman Posted September 4, 2013 #19 Posted September 4, 2013 First, welcome to the family. Second, the button...maybe a garage door opener?
Brake Pad Posted September 4, 2013 #21 Posted September 4, 2013 first time I saw those vents, was on a Vetter Windshield, ( I had them on my CB 750K )
dacheedah Posted September 4, 2013 #22 Posted September 4, 2013 first time I saw those vents, was on a Vetter Windshield, ( I had them on my CB 750K ) I remember those
