Bill W. Posted February 23, 2008 #1 Posted February 23, 2008 First off, a BIG Thank You to bongobobny for the parts I needed!! Next - dumb question time. How do you get the switch out of the clutch lever mount??? Mine is broken off, with a piece still in the mount. I wondered why the cruise wasn't working! I must be having a Senior Moment Attack, I can't get the @$&^*# piece out!! What holds the switch in place??
Squeeze Posted February 24, 2008 #2 Posted February 24, 2008 turn the Switch around for 90 Degrees and pull it out
Neil86 Posted February 24, 2008 #3 Posted February 24, 2008 Actually from what I recall there is a hole in the bottom side of the pivot...you have to push in to release a pin thats spring loaded, then pull out the switch.. Its been a few years...and bike isn't nearby to verify.
Bill W. Posted February 24, 2008 Author #4 Posted February 24, 2008 Thanks, all! The broken off piece was turned in the mount just enough that I couldn't see the tab that needs to be pushed in to release it. A little prying and some pulling and it came out. Now, I hope this is a part I can still get from the dealer, that won't break the bank!!
bongobobny Posted February 24, 2008 #5 Posted February 24, 2008 Yah, that tab had me going for a little while too when I rebuilt my clutch master cylander last summer. You are very welcome for the parts. I have accumulated quite a few crash bars over the last couple of years from ebay trying to find a "perfect" pair. Most of them were in worse condition than what was on my bike. If you haven't found saddlebags yet, I have a pair with a key that need repainting from my '85 parts bike. Sorry, the trunk is going on my '84...
Neil86 Posted February 24, 2008 #6 Posted February 24, 2008 Looks like the switch is still available online for around $30. Its good to know ballpark price before visiting dealer.
