junkyardog53 Posted February 23, 2008 #1 Posted February 23, 2008 i've got a lot of different jacket for all kinds of weather. does anyone out there use a sking jacket for riding i heard they are pretty good.any feed back on this? my wife needs a jacket as a passenger an was wondering if this is as good or not better than a bike jacket?
tomfromhull Posted February 23, 2008 #2 Posted February 23, 2008 I've worn one over my motorcycle jacket for cold and wind protection. Works fantastic. Columbia ski jacket with a velcro collar blocks out all the wind around the neck.
sarges46 Posted February 23, 2008 #3 Posted February 23, 2008 My thoughts....if you are looking for just warm...then the ski jacket will likely do. If protection and warmth then either a good leather or type m/c jacket with liner would be what you want. The ski jacket will just melt away if you asphalt surf. Newenough has some great deals on jackets....check their whole site including the closeout section.
Ferrantelli Posted February 23, 2008 #4 Posted February 23, 2008 Ski jacket work great for skiing but a motorcycle jacket is far superior. I bought a TOURMASTER/CORTECH TRINITY [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B000JCR386/ref=dp_image?ie=UTF8&s=apparel&img=MAIN&color%5Fname=x]http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31txzfRBR5L._AA280_.jpg[/ame] for my wife she would not trade it for anything else. With the zip out full liner she uses 90% of the riding season. Best price $116.95:[ame=http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000JCR386/ref=nosim/?tag=nextag-apparel-tier2-20&creative=380333&creativeASIN=B000JCR386&linkCode=asn]Amazon.com: TOURMASTER/CORTECH TRINITY WOMENS MOTORCYCLE JACKET LIGHT BLUE/SILVER: Apparel[/ame]
Mariner Fan Posted February 23, 2008 #5 Posted February 23, 2008 My leather jacket with a liner is very warm. A ski jacket is warm as well but doesn't provide any protection.
Jethroish Posted February 24, 2008 #6 Posted February 24, 2008 For cold: heavy sweatshirt under my leather jacket with liner and neck wrap. Keeps we warm and protected at 40 degrees.
Ferrantelli Posted February 24, 2008 #7 Posted February 24, 2008 Here in the North East 40 is a heat wave. I am hoping for that tomorrow so I can go for a ride. My non electric textile jacket and pants are good to at least 30.
Mariner Fan Posted February 24, 2008 #8 Posted February 24, 2008 We had temps in the 40's today but there was too much snow on the ground to ride. ....
Ferrantelli Posted February 24, 2008 #9 Posted February 24, 2008 We had temps in the 40's today but there was too much snow on the ground to ride. .... We had snow yesterday. The road are clear but our lawns are covered. If the sun comes out tomorrow I'll be on the bike.
