130 to 150 MPG in a car...proven!

There is a new vehicle that is about to hit the U.S. market next year called the Loremo, which stands for Low Resistance Mobile. It is a German design that was built on seeking the following criteria, engine efficiency, low weight (might be tough is the Northern climates or windy parts of the country), and minimal drag efficiency. The car gets between 130 to 150 miles per gallon and is expected to hit the U.S. market for sale sometime next year. Base price of the first model is pegged at $22,000 which makes it very affordable.

Below is a site where you can check out the car and multi paged article about it. Site also has several pictures as well.

So...read the article and tell us what do you think?

With an engine that small, I don't think that it will be one that last's a long time, but getting that type of mileage would certainly make me think about buying one. Up till now, I was thinking of doing the Europian Smart Car which is suppose to get around 45 mpg.

A little difficult to enter and exit, and turtle like acceleration but kinda cool looking. With the economy going in the direction it is, it may be a good choice. Looks a lot better than the smart car which reminds me of a refrigerator box on wheels...

I don't have 22,000 dollars.....It's not affordable to me.:(

Diesel's the way to go. I have a Yanmar Diesel Outboard on the sailboat that burns a quart an hour at 5.5 knots. That works out to 24mpg. It get's better milage than my F250 7.3idi. I also used to own a '79 rabbit 5 speed FI gas, that I once got 100mpg coasting down from Reno to Sacramento... :) Normally it got 41-42mpg, and hauled a$$.. I like the idea of these engineers going back to the basics instead of selling the public a bill of goods on hybreds being the panacia of fuel consumption and green. Like the artical said the electricty has to come from somewhere...... 2¢ Ka-ching....

Diesels are great except I have an F350 with the crappy 6.0 liter motor should have kept my F250 7.3l. I think Honda is coming out with some diesel cars in the next couple of years and Ford is looking at a Ranger pickup. Diesels get great mileage except the motors cost a ton and Diesel is getting near $4.00 a gallon in Northern Illinois what happened to the good old days of Diesel being cheaper then gas Dam Northeast home heating oil.

"A 12-inch touch-screen monitor and onboard PC offer information on fuel consumption, navigation, and even internet access and e-mail."

Great - as if we don't have enough problems with people on cell phones - now they want to put a screen up front for the driver to get e-mails? What the heck happened to the basic concept of driving a car an paying attention?:confused24:

Oh, other than that, I thought it was a cool looking car and a good concept.

I know of 2 mechanics personally that have revamped stock carbs to achieve over 100 mpg back in the late 70's . The oil companies paid them dearly to stop it and for their designs . The technology is there , just forbidden for profit and greed .

Likewise here. Anything over 10 grand is out of the question. Right now it would have to be free.

It sure would be nice if we could get that kind of fuel efficiency out of our bikes. It doesn't make sense to me that our bikes weigh less that half of what small cars do, but the cars are now passing us in fuel mileage. Yeah, I know, we get to accelerate better, but is sure seems like there ought to be a way to get 60 or 70 mpg out of an 800-pound bike and still zip around through the mountains and around the cages with smiles on our faces.

Just a myth....this was proven scientifically to be impossible.. Alot of people have used this myth to make good conversation for years...

Thats like saying a cure for cancer was found but pharmaceutical companies/hospitals bought the cure from them as they make way too much money treating these cancer stricken patients..

However the oil companies did (I believe) crush GM's EV1 electric car that was released in California bout 20 years ago..

BRING BACK THE HORSE...!!!!!!

I believe that 15,000 euros comes to about 30,000 dollars. That means the 3 cyl would be about $ 40,000.

Power/weight ratio is important but I wonder if anything that light could be well built. What about safety standards? They don't realy tell us much hard info.

At the Current Exchange Rate, 22,000 USD is right.

Safety will not be much of an Issue, the Saftey Cell is build out of Carbon Fibre.
