CrazyHorse Posted August 27, 2013 #1 Posted August 27, 2013 Does anyone know if you can have some free play side to side in the shock mount parts. Specifically here It has about 1/8 side to side.1990+ have a different shock mount then earlier models.so she's anyone know?
Marcarl Posted August 27, 2013 #2 Posted August 27, 2013 The ones I've taken apart were and are tight. You may have bent the tangs a little when removing them. Thinking about it, I would want mine to be tight, yo don't want any wiggle in that area.
Peder_y2k Posted August 27, 2013 #4 Posted August 27, 2013 The slack could be taken out by adding some nylon spacer/washers. I see them at my local ACE Hardware fastener section. -Pete, in Tacoma Wa USA
CrazyHorse Posted August 28, 2013 Author #5 Posted August 28, 2013 Yea good idea do you think nylon would last?
Marcarl Posted August 28, 2013 #6 Posted August 28, 2013 If you need to shim it there is something amiss, that could mean out of line or you could put it out of line by using the wrong shim. My experience is that joint is a tight fit. If you decide to just tighten it without any shims then you may also draw it out of line,,,, I would get me another piece to use.
dingy Posted August 28, 2013 #7 Posted August 28, 2013 Yea good idea do you think nylon would last? No. Stainless Steel might. I have seen these at local Do-It Best hardware. Not sure if they would have correct thickness. I think something is missing in assembly, doesn't seem like yoke would bend that much. Gary
CrazyHorse Posted August 28, 2013 Author #8 Posted August 28, 2013 There is no way to tighten it. It's just a c- clip at the end of the bolt that holds the two halves together. I don't think there's any missing parts according to parts diagram. So I'm at a loss
