calperin Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Ok, I'm trying to have my bike back to road (Actually I'm trying to get back to the bike, after my surgery). I want to install my Utopia Backrest, but the question here is: Do I need to open wider the holes on the frame to 7/16 or removing the rubber tips will be enough for the original screws? Thanks :detective:
The Tooch Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Hi Carlos If you go to the on line instructions on Utopia's web-site, the photo's and instructions are very good. That being said yes pop-out the plastic and then drill the holes to 5/16. Great backrest.......here's mine.
calperin Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 The Tooch, Thanks, I saw the instructions. But I remember that I read that somebody on the hood didn't enlarge the holes... Also, you need to be sure that you don't scratch the fender. Nice bike.... Thanks, Carlos
LilBeaver Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I do not recall having to enlarge the holes to install my utopia backrest. Do not that I am the second owner of my bike and I do not know if the previous owner had one installed or not. There was no evidence to suggest that the holes were drilled out, but, that is still inconclusive.
Cruiser1021 Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I did have to enlarge the holes on mine. I put a Piece of wood ( to protect the fender ) between the fender and the holes being drilled out.

Thanks, Carlos Did you get your backrest mounted, did you have to drill holes or not? if you got it on, have you tried it out and does it make a difference for you?
