Grey Midnight Venture ???

Met a guy today riding a Grey 2008 RSV-S. Mentioned that we used to have an '06 Midnight. He says ... "that's what mine is". What??? I look at him and say "midnight Venture's are Black" but he insists his is a midnight. It even says "Midnight Venture" on the speedo.

 

Did I miss something or did Yamaha bring out a Midnight Venture in 2008 with the grey color?

If the guy is not the original owner, which it sounds like, the speedo was replaced with another unit. Probably from Pinwall or some place that sells used parts. It should also say Midnight Venture on the saddle bag hinges. OR the bike had been repainted grey. Midnights are called Midnights because they are black. They also have chrome fork tube covers. My guess is the guy has no clue as to what he has. If the speedo has been replaced, it's not shwing the true milage either.

Gray 2008 should be S model. Title and serial number should tell.

He said it was new when he bought it although it was 2010 when he bought it (obviously a left over).

 

I forgot to look at the saddlebag hinges but It was the stock grey with pinstripes found on the 2008 models and it did have the added chrome but didn't the "S" models come with that?

We have an 08 RSV-S and yes it has the chrome fork tubes and covers

In '08 there was no "Midnight", there was an "S" model which was the Charcoal bike. The chrome on the Midnights somewhat designated them as "S" models. The '09 S model was the Raven/Sand color.
