gmarshall Posted August 25, 2013 #1 Posted August 25, 2013 i've recently moved from Springboro Ohio (altitude 700 feet) to Colorado Springs Colorado (elevation 5800 feet), and was wondering if there are any simple adjustments to be made to account for the altitude change. Been riding solo and 2-up and don't really notice any change in performance, but I'm no mechanic. Someone here suggested that I would have to have the carbs re-jetted. Since this is not my field of expertise, I am reaching out to my fellow members for advice. Also, I've seen a few Ventures on the road; any members in the area? Gary
etcswjoe Posted August 25, 2013 #2 Posted August 25, 2013 No re jetting required, you could adjust the pilot screws but if you do not notice any difference I would not change a thing.
Squidley Posted August 25, 2013 #3 Posted August 25, 2013 Gary, At that altitude your not going to notice any real difference. You dont have to rejet the carbs, so dont let anyone talk you into that. The only thing that "may" need to be done is like Joe mentioned the air/fuel mix screws. If your not noticing any fuel decrease or performance decrease, leave it alone...
Yammer Dan Posted August 25, 2013 #4 Posted August 25, 2013 As said just leave it alone unless something starts acting crappy.
Brake Pad Posted August 25, 2013 #5 Posted August 25, 2013 I actually got better gas milage with height
dwatson636 Posted August 25, 2013 #6 Posted August 25, 2013 Hey Gary, I am up here in Denver. Moved up from Phoenix 2 years back. I actually get better gas milage up here. I've also made several trips up the mountains above 10k with no noticeable power loss. I always ride 2 up here. Welcome to the best riding in the country. Sent from my DROID4
