How is he going to get the bike registered if he has no license? I guess he may not have to have it to get his tags, but he will need insurance to drive won't he?Not sure what the rules are in your state.

And no offense but I wouldn't ride with someone that arrogant who has never ridden a bike. He's definitely an accident waiting to happen, I just hope he doesn't take anyone else with him.

I would at least ask him if he has signed an organ donor card. At least he may be able to help someone else out. :whistling:

Haven't thought of that one. I'll bring that up tomorrow if I see him out.

I have my donor card signed.

If you can't talk sense into your neighbor, at least you can advise his next of kin to sue the He!! out of that dealership for reckless endangerment. What they did is akin to handing a 2 year old a loaded pistol, eventually they'll figure out how to hurt themselves with it.

Totally agree this is crazy. I'ld consider talking to the owner of the dealership. Any reputable dealer should not push that bike on in-experienced rider, and the salesman should be canned for recommending this. And yes I know the busa well. My 26 yr old son has one along with 8 or more other crotch rockets. He races both track and drag strip, is very experienced, and would still say the busa is a wild ride. Just touch the throttle at any speed and the front tire will come up.

I think your neighbor is a lier. I don't believe a salesman would tell anyone that that is a good bike for a beginner. I think your neighbor had his mind made up on what he wanted, and he went and got it. He is just telling you that the salesman told him it was a good first bike, because he is an idiot lier. He figures if he tells you that, you will believe him, because in his mind a salesman knows more than you do, because after all, he is a salesman and they know everything. Only time will tell how he does with it.

Hope your bike is quite so you can slip out without him. no need for you to end up getting in a wreck because of him doing something stupid. You won't be able to teach him anything so let him learn on his own, you tried to give good info.

At least the local dealer here wont sell a bike unless you have passed the second stage of the 3 stage M/C licensing system here in Ontario. I'd report him to the authorities the next time he left his driveway on it. After all the life you save maybe somebodies child!:backinmyday:

Been in the business a longgg time and have actually lost customers (no sale) over the issue being discussed.. As crazy as it sounds I still think a summer trail riding a little XR100 is the best investment a newbie can make..

Sounds to me like the salesman AND the newbie rider mentioned here are both suicidal.

Well a Bussa, is a nice driving bike, " IF " you don't use more then about 1/10 of the throttle !! If you keep it to about that much throttle rotation, you will never be going more then about 30 MPH over the speed limits !!!

Quite often while I am rideing my Busa, I glance down at the speedo, and usually I am only going, about 30MPH over what I think I am going ??

ie: IF, I think I'm going 50 , I'm actually going about 70 . I did go for a ride on the thing yesterday. Nice relaxing ride, it was, Sun was shinneing, not much traffic.

At one point, I thought I was doing about 50, and glanced at the speedo, and it said " 80 " !! I swear, Officer, I did not know this was happening !!!

But the point is, with a full face helmet, and Quiet mufflers, you really can't tell how fast you are going on these things !!

They seem to have a " Little Devil " installed inside the Computer !!! This little guy never seems to be satisfied, as to how fast you are going, :stirthepot: :stirthepot: ??

Anyway, tell your neighbor, that George, has one, and he his nickname for his Black Busa, is the " Death Machine " !!!

Zero, to 60MPH, in 2.4 Seconds is another big selling point for these machines !!! You can get to the next stop light, before the cars behind you are even out of Second gear !!

Its amazing, when you get to the next Stop, light, the cars are still sitting there waiting for the light to change to green !!

At this point, you are faced with trying to stop the thing from about 90 MPH, in less then 100 feet !!!

Amazingly, the the bike does have " Fantastic " Front brakes !!!

But sadly !!! a Neophite rider probably does not have the skill level required to stop the thing ! :whistling::whistling: and we all know what happens next :whistling::whistling:

If you have a flag pole in your front yard, you might lower the flag to half mast, and if your neighbors wife happens to ask " Why " you could hint to her why you have done this !!! :whistling::whistling:

Back when these bikes first hit the market, in 1999, I think the statictics were that 2 out of 3 that were sold, were crashed, within 3 months !!!

Funny thing is that the mfg. does not even advertise them anymore !!

In case anybody is interested, the original bikes back in 99 make 174 HP, and the bike has a dry weight of 495 lb. !! I think the last few year's the HP has been bumped up to about 185 or 190, something like that.

I have had my 99 run on a Dyno, It DOES, make 174 HP, It will get up to about 130MPH, before you even realize what is happening !! Your still in 3rd gear at this point, and not even at red line yet.

Anyway, that's as fast as I have had the thing going, enuf is enuf !!! as they say.

It is a Fantastic Machine !! But, if you buy one you better know what you are doing !! It is capable of going 200 MPH, and it will !!!

The older ones, would do about 193, and the newer models will top 200 !!

Getting the thing to about 150 mph, is Effortless !!!!

I refer to my 99 as the " Death Machine " whenever anybody asks me about it !!!

I have offered mine for sale to two different riders who were rideing " Liter Class " "sport bikes", and both of them told me NO, I don't want it, its to dangerous !!!

Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth, But, I love rideing the thing!!! It makes a

V-Max, seem like a toy !!! :stirthepot::stirthepot:

Its Amazing, a 1.3 liter engine, that makes 174 HP! AND, you can add a turbo, ( easy to do ) and get it up to around 300 HP !!! ( Really !!! you can )

Neighbor is around 6'4" and 200lbs.

He does not even have a MC learners permit, (says he don't need one:doh::think:??????) he paid cash, may not have insurance either. I don't know if there is an insurance co that would even cover that combo.

That is going to be a expensive lesson if he is around to learn from it. Salesman is a moron!Or Murderer.

After 40 something years riding including a couple Ventures I bought an FJR for an entertainment bike. It was an awesome bike. a lot of fun to ride, but every once in a while I would look down and find myself doubling the speed limit and not really riding safe for the conditions, although the bike was handling it very well. I ventually sold that bike but even then I stated in my ad that I would only sell to an adult with a Motorcycle endorsement on their license.

The hybusa is an even more impressive bike than the venture, your Neighbor will kill himself or somebody else starting riding on that bike. I took the Motorcycle safety class after riding 40 years, had a blastg and discovered that I had accumulated a lot of bad habits. I do disagree with some of their teaching but for the most part they were right on . Talk to him, then his wife, kids etc until he takes a class

Didn't know suz was selling bikes. Thought they were in court for reorgainization following filling for bankrupcy.

That's the car division. The power sports division is still alive and kicking.

Well Lesson 1

How to pick it back up.........

Trying to drive across grass with no knowledge of the friction zone, he spun the wheel and it slid out from under him.

No apparent dame to him or the bike, well maybe a hit to his pride having to stop over to ask for help getting it upright. I used it as a point that it is useful things like that that you will learn in a MSF course. I think he is beginning to see my point.:fingers-crossed-emo

I did give him my ride like a pro DVD.

Either or both your neighbor and that salesman need their respective heads examined. I'd say both. I don't know any salesman worth his salt that would let a complete newbie buy what is arguably the most dangerous production sport bike on the planet. "Accident waiting for a place to happen" is right. I can admire any one with the guts to get on a Busa, but when they don't know one end of a bike from the other, I consider them as "certifiable" and this guy certainly is!!

I remember a comment "our" Owen made when I asked him what he had done with his VMax, probably the nearest thing to a Busa Yamaha has. His reply was that he had sold it as he could feel his IQ drop by 10 points every time he got on it!! Hopefully this guy will wake up to just how dumb he is before he ends up dead or worse thanks to that bike.
