stickhandle2 Posted August 24, 2013 #1 Posted August 24, 2013 Since we got the new to us 02 RSV, Tammie and I have ventured a bit more on the bike then we did last year when we rediscovered riding after being away from it for far too long. We just had our second week of vacation with no real plans on what to do before they started. So we decided to go for a ride and wing it, but we did come up with a couple of spots to end each day at so we pre booked rooms for the night (we have done the camping thing for years, so for this little journey it was going to be hotels). Started out leaving our place in Hamilton Ont on Tuesday night and crossed in NFalls NY for the night. The next day we rode into Pa along the I90 and stopped at the Welcome Centre where we consulted with the gentleman that was working at the time and told him where we were going and asked him if there was a more scenic route to get there. We stayed on the I90 until Erie then turned off at exit 24 and took route 19 south. For those of you more experienced then us in the motorcycle touring your probably rolling your eyes at the couple of Canadian rookies. Route 19 was a great road to ride, I prefer to ride around 40 to 50mph I guess that is why I am always looking for secondary roads to travel, but we went through a few towns until we got to Mercer, where we turned right onto Route 62 for the ride to the Original Quaker Steak and Lube in Sharon. Good day to be there as it was bike night, great dinner then to the Hotel. The next day we went across I 80 into Ohio then connected to I 76 until we got to route 534 turned north on 534 and rode into Geneva got off the bike and wandered around for a bit, grabbed some lunch then headed east on route 20 back towards Erie (in hind sight, we should have continued to Geneva on the Lake and taken Route 531 along Lake Erie). The next morning it was back home, for that we took the I90 still not a bad ride for a couple of days and we found a couple of great roads to ride (both 19 and 534 must be spectacular in the fall) and a couple of others to come back and try the next time. The best part was that at most we were only a few hours from home base back here in the Hammer. Yup we are still newbies but it was fun to just explore and ride. Mike
AngryAmish Posted August 24, 2013 #2 Posted August 24, 2013 Awesome !! When I was in Montreal, I would usually go down the I-87 and go through the Adirondacks !
etcswjoe Posted August 24, 2013 #3 Posted August 24, 2013 Sounds like a good ride and no eye rolling here if you had a good ride it was a good road.
bongobobny Posted August 24, 2013 #4 Posted August 24, 2013 Sorry we didn't get a chance to talk at the WNY regional! Another great road in Pa is Rt 6 which runs east to west near the northern border. Also Rt 219 in Pa is another nice road. Instead of the I90 take Rt 20 to Erie Pa, much more scenic. Any time you want to get together and explore roads in my neck of the woods let the Ontario crew know and they will be glad to come on down and make a day of it in my area. We live right around the corner from Pioneer...

Route 6 is another that we plan on doing in the future and funny you should say Route 20 back from Erie, the original plan was to take it back into Buffalo. We will take you up on the offer to ride in your neck of the woods, the WNY Regional was our 2nd trip to that area and it is a great one for a days ride. Mike
Phoneman1981 Posted August 24, 2013 #6 Posted August 24, 2013 Glad you and your wife are enjoying yourselves. We too got back on after a 25 year absence.
