I have recently purchased a 1992 VR and can't believe it, but the right front rotor is warped. Every time you use the front brake the front end vibrates in harmony with the speed you're going at the time you pull on the brake lever. Stops smoothly if using the foot brake which activates the left front rotor. Check how true the suspect rotor is with a metal ruler attached to the right side fork with a C clamp and it is nowhere near true. Very unusual in my opinion for a warped front brake rotor. Anyway, I have an excellent replacement and am in the process of doing so. My question for all those with more expertise than I is what is the difference between each of the front rotors? I cannot see any difference at all. But if you look the part numbers in Partshark/'s, Stadium Yamaha/s and other websites for OEM stuff the rotors have a different part number. Reason I'm asking is I am sure the replacement rotor I have is a front just don't know if it was previously on the left or right. Ha, almost sounds political.

When they were available, the EBC's had the same part number regardless if you ordered as a left or right even though they were listed separate! They should be interchangeable as long as you keep the slot orientation the same...

OEM's have the slots milled side specific while aftermarket do not. That is the only difference.

EBC and BraKing both make good replacements. I have used both in the past but don't know what is available now.

I believe that either rotor will bolt up in either position, but as Bob says the slots milled into the rotors are oriented differently for each side.

:sign yeah that: I agree with both of them, just the slot difference on either side of the bike...sorry I missed your call

Since Mike has warped rotors too I've been trying to find part numbers for these so maybe I can order him the front set before riding season kicks into high gear and he tries daily riding to and from work. Anyone want to share the part numbers and a probable best place to get these?

New ones can be had but they run a couple hundred apiece on Ebay. Maybe you can find a couple of decent used ones somewhere, ebay or maybe a member here. Try Earl or Dingy maybe...

84 will not fit an MKII, they are different O.D.'s.

I have one that will fit an MKII, I just replaced all the rotors on Tweety with wave rotors. This one was on the rear. Two I took off front are from an FJR, they won't fit an MKII.

It is the correct rotor for the front of a stock MKII, I had to customize rear brake to get it to fit with VMax rim.

I need both front rotors, I searched the site trying to find part numbers, but came up empty, and I realize the rotors are expensive and used would be ok on the short term, but Mike will use this as the commuter to and from work as weather allows. I don't want to be the one to ground him from the bike til its fixed, but I may...
