kentuckyrider Posted August 23, 2013 #1 Posted August 23, 2013 Can anyone tell me if this will fit a 1991 venture royale 1300? I plan on using skydocs to replace all of mine. Right now I might be moving out of state very soon. I need to get this fixed fast and this is priced right for a quick fix. Thanks! N.O.S. kentuckyrider Posted August 23, 2013 Author #3 Posted August 23, 2013 I don't think it will, my Yamaha cross reference shows it only fits 83-85 venture. Gary Gary, I sure appreciate it. My plans was to replace them all, but if I make this move I need to get it road ready fast. I am still going to replace them all, but I might have to do it after I get moved and settled in. Had some stuff I was going to do to it this winter anyway. I don't like tearing it down during riding weather, but the hose ruptured on me on the last trip we was about to make. I hate breaking down, but if you are going to break down the driveway is the best place.
kentuckyrider Posted August 27, 2013 Author #4 Posted August 27, 2013 OK; I had more time to look at this. I thought it was a brake line as my left side was loosing brake fluid. The sight glass was almost empty and it was running down the right fork. It is the fork itself that is leaking under the bottom of the boot. What is my best option of fixing this? I have read where some of you talk about going to progressive. What all do I need to do to this and can anyone suggest a place to get what I need and a link to get to how and what to do to fix this? Thanks in advance!!
Flyinfool Posted August 27, 2013 #5 Posted August 27, 2013 If the fork seal is leaking, new springs will not help. You have 2 options that I am aware of; 1. clean the seal, there are a couple of threads on using something similar to 35mm film to scrape out dirt. 2. replace the seals.
Squidley Posted August 27, 2013 #6 Posted August 27, 2013 I purchased a set of Progressive springs off Amazon about 2 weeks ago and installed them in my '83, here's a link [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Suspension-11-1112-20-75-Spring/dp/B000UK3OU8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377564729&sr=8-1&keywords=Yamaha+Venture+Progressive+Fork+Springs]Progressive Suspension 11-1112 20.75" Fork Spring : Amazon.com : Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31t-ovjSDJL.@@AMEPARAM@@31t-ovjSDJL[/ame] I never use anything buy factory Yamaha fork seals. I have always had good luck with them not leaking and the ones "Guaranteed not to leak" have. Spend the money and get the Yamaha ones and have that piece of mind. The part # is 1NL-23145-00-00 I have always had good luck with Yamaha Sports Plaza http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/

Already have a set for RSV Hybrid though. Gary

Yeah, I plan on replacing the seals, but I was reading where guys was going with the progressives. Figured this is a good time to do that.
kentuckyrider Posted August 27, 2013 Author #9 Posted August 27, 2013 Thanks, Squidley! I appreciate the info!
syscrusher Posted August 31, 2013 #10 Posted August 31, 2013 I was exactly where you are now about two weeks ago. I drained the oil out of the leaky fork tube so that it won't cause trouble with my braking or tire traction. I won't ride it like this for long since I have the seal ready to put in I'm just not ready to do it yet. The tire will probably wear unevenly but I have been riding it with damping on only one side of the fork. This stuff does make me a little more intrigued by BMW's designs using a self-contained mono-shock on the front like the "Telelever" on a R1200GS. I am wishing I could just buy a shock and bolt it on. Good luck!
