It was a hoot just to think I was actually on RT66 even for that short period of time. It's on my bucket list too...

My cousin and I did it in July but ONLY because you cant get out of freezing Michigan earlier.. I think earlier in the season may be better, mid-june, to avoid the major heat issues cause it was HOT.. If I had it to do over I would do it earlier..

Did the route past June/July and wouldn't recommend this trip mid summer because of extreme temps. Didn't have flexibility with timeframe, but in hindsight would have picked May/June. Gray Ghost Posted August 30, 2013 #19 Posted August 30, 2013 We are looking at doing the route next spring. Found a box set of DVDs about the road at Walmart that was pretty informative. Now have a set of the "Here It Is" maps for the whole route.
