nowindinmyhair Posted February 22, 2008 #1 Posted February 22, 2008 Still a lot of snow out here but getting really anxious for spring. I bought an '84 Venture and it didn't have a tool kit. I am putting some tools together (pliers, spark plug wrench, multi tool, etc...) I wonder if anyone has experience with "on the road" issues and could point to any particular tool or item I should keep in my tool kit.
Guest Popeye Posted February 23, 2008 #2 Posted February 23, 2008 nowindinmyhair; I always carried a full set of tools in my left saddlebag in my 86. I once blew my 40 amp Main fuse & was on the roadside. Figured the problem & used sidecutters, pliers, a piece of baling wire for a fuse element & electrical tape to fix in about 10 mins. I didn't know it had a 'Main fuse' before that. When I got home, ~100 miles later, I replaced the patch job with a 40 amp, auto-reset breaker from Autozone. Alway kept fuses, wire & anything electrical with me. Then, were tools, reg & deep sockets, tire plugs kit, inflator, big light....& anything I could anticipate for being in the middle of nowhere, including food, water & first aid supplies.
bongobobny Posted February 23, 2008 #3 Posted February 23, 2008 Duct Tape and Bailing Wire should fix just about any problem... Have some chewing gum handy too!
