It looks a little long.

The rule of thumb is;

Measure the distance from center of one tire to the center of the other tire.

The distance from the center of the axle to the center of the ball should be 1.5 to 2 times the tire centers distance.

I stretched mine to the 2 times for better stability.

Dang, type to slow again

Definetly too long but looks easy to fix. You could always cut and try it, then cut again if necessary remember you can only do that so many times. :think:

I re did the tongue on my trailer making it twice the length of the axle. Didn't like the look then realized there was an opportunity for additional storage space. Slapped on car rack and a storage box and now I love it!!

What tongue weight are you running at?

I've always been told 20 lbs is the target...but you must be way over that!

Done all that in previous posts. I've had that trailer all over this country and Canada since 2009 numerous times! Gave up on trying to prove it's safe construction long ago. It really smacks against some's idea of what a MC Trailer should be. Hate it for them but love my trailer!!

One of the things you gain with a long tongue is being able to control backing up easier. The trailer wil not react as fast to the much quicker movements of the trailer ball on the bike. With a shorter tongue the trailer almost has a mind of it's own, and backing out of a motel parking space is a PITA... I think by the time you add an ice chest it won't look as remote.... :)
