BigLenny Posted August 20, 2013 #1 Posted August 20, 2013 Hello All, My wife and I are planning on leaving out on October 4th to head to the Texas Hill Country for a week. If we station ourselves in Kerrville, will everything to see be a day ride away? Also, I am open to any and all suggestions of things to do and see from the folks that know about that area. Thanks so much, Lynn
jakester Posted August 20, 2013 #3 Posted August 20, 2013 Yes, very nice area. Fredricksburg is about 20 miles south of there. Little German community, great little shops on main, Pacific war museum, enchanted rock state park, The Auslander restraunt, Luckenbach Tx is fun to visit-biker friendly , lots of wineries in the area, Float the Guadalupe or the Comal rivers at San Marcus or Gruene Tx. San Antonio river walk, Alamo, bass pro shops. Did I mention the sisters, all within about an hours ride. Enjoy, have fun. Bill I was there about two weeks ago.
ventourer Posted August 20, 2013 #4 Posted August 20, 2013 Lynn, We went there this spring for a week with 'playboy' and his wife. It was a great trip with lots to see and do. We also stayed in Kerrville, it is pretty centrally located and a nice little town. If you come to the meet in Mena, playboy has planed, we can tell you about our trip there. His wife did a great job of trip planing and had lots of info. The blue bonnets were everywhere........the hill country is awesome Hope to see you in Mena.......yammer

RSV4Cruzn Posted August 21, 2013 #6 Posted August 21, 2013 (edited) We were out there in May of this year. Fredericksburg has a great little restaurant at their airport. Luckenbach Tx is a great place to visit. we found several old forts to visit. Lots and lots of great riding out that way. We kept to the back roads and saw some beautiful country. I would like to go back and stay longer. We left Birmingham on a Monday morning with one reservation for Wednesday in Leakey Tx. Never had a problem finding a place to stay. Enjoy your trip! SapperMedic Posted August 22, 2013 #7 Posted August 22, 2013 Of course you have the three sisters around Leakey to ride. When we had the Texas Hill Country Rally last year, we stayed in the cabins there. President Johnsons Ranch is near Fredricksburg, and Tom lives not too far away in Blanco. He went to the Darkside though (Polaris UTV).
big john Posted August 22, 2013 #8 Posted August 22, 2013 planning on rideing the three sisters roads the middle of sept. anyone with input on this ride
Pic Posted August 22, 2013 #9 Posted August 22, 2013 Watch out for Deer, especially September thru November. They like to cross roads, doesn't matter if it's highways or back roads. The Lost Maples Cafe in Utopia is always a good place to eat, make sure you get some pie. The Lone Star Motorcycle Museum is a nice stop too. Lots of older bikes. It is near the Three Sisters. http://www.lonestarmotorcyclemuseum.com/id2.html
