MasterGuns Posted August 20, 2013 #1 Posted August 20, 2013 I am in the process of dressing up the "new to me" 92 VR. I opened one of my boxes of stuff and found the two chrome side plates that replace the OEM black plastic plates that cover the area behind the clutch cover on the right side and the empty void above and behind the middle gear cover. Well I have the plates but the left side has a special mounting bracket that replaces the OEM bracket on top of the middle gear. It is that special bracket I am missing. If anyone has one they aren't using and would be willing to part with for whatever amount or perhaps trade for some part I may have, please let me know.
Peder_y2k Posted August 20, 2013 #2 Posted August 20, 2013 You could make one yourself from hardware store angle iron. I can measure mine and provide dimensions. -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA

If nobody replies they have one, I will do exactly as you recommend. I can get the measurements from the one I have. Thanks so much.
Marcarl Posted August 20, 2013 #4 Posted August 20, 2013 I still have 2 kits available in mirror stainless, that include everything needed to do both sides. $125 plus shipping if you're interested, but no, I have extra brackets,,,, I would have had if I knew you were going to lose yours.
dingy Posted September 3, 2013 #5 Posted September 3, 2013 Herb, Did you get the part you were looking for? I found one in my excess inventory pile tonight. Gary
MasterGuns Posted September 4, 2013 Author #6 Posted September 4, 2013 Herb, Did you get the part you were looking for? I found one in my excess inventory pile tonight. Gary Gary, Thanks so much but I have already fabricated a bracket from 1 1/4 " angle iron just as "Tacoma Pete" suggested. All done. Thanks for the offer though. Still looking for a good TCI for the 92 though. As you said there are plenty of them for VMax's on ebay. But one quick question...was there any difference between the TCI for a 92 VR and a 92 VMax? Almost an identical part number; rather than JJ the VMax is JP but that's it. Just curious. Herb

Thanks for the offer but I didn't lose the bracket. I bought another VR and had a set of good chrome covers; was just short the bracket and spacers. But I am good to go now. Thanks

Herb I am almost sure the advance curve will be a little more aggressive, but it will work on the Venture. Exact same connectors. I would still like to get temporary use of your Ignitech unit so I can put it on my bike. I can put a video camera aimed right at tach to get proof for Ignitech that the early V88 had this dropout issue. I will get it replaced or send it back. Gary
