first gen, clutch problem

how do I access the slave cylinder for my clutch? I bled it now it will not let me shift. When I squeeze the clutch lever I can see the bleeder screw move up a little (is this normal). I changed the fluid to dot 4 by bleeding my clutch very carefully.

Sounds like the clutch slave piston is loose that's why you see the bleeder move up and down. You have to remove the smaller rear crankcase cover to get at the screws to tighten the clutchslave piston. When you do this make sure the bike is on the center stand. If its on the side stand oil will pour out. On the center stand you will still lose some oil so have an oil pan to catch it!

ok thank you. I got the cover off and it reviled a broken lower bolt for the slave cylinder. Now I need to drill it out and hope the threads are still god or I will have to tap

Is it broken off flush? Also I would spray it with Kroil and let sit. If you have to drill it out get a drill bit with a revers twist, you will have to run the drill in revers . That way as the drill cuts in it may unscrew the broken bolt. Or you can use an easy out.

I ended up drilling both out and tapping them to a standard instead of metric and using a grade 5 alan bolts with antisieze. took it for a ride and it shifted beautifully.
