1.Ok I have decided to replace the tires on my 96 RSTC so I am open to sugestions and vendor information. The tires on it have less than 1k miles but they are the original tires, so for safty sake I am going to change them.

2.Since I have never delt with the finaldrive/shaft drive can someone provide a step by step instruction so I will know what to expect. Also is there anything I should do while I have it apart in regard to maintenance.

Again thanks to the members that have always provided good feedback to my questions on this AWSOME site. :fingers-crossed-emo

First of all we need to know what year and model of bike you have. Second, becoming a member of this site will be the best $12 you'll ever spend on your bike. Once your a member you will have access to the tech library that has the manuals for most of the repairs you will want to tackle.

Now as far as removing the rear tire. Not much to it. Remove the both mufflers. If you have an RSTD removing the rear fender makes the whole process easier. There are only four bolts and one electrical plug to get it off. If not, you'll need to jack the bike up more than you might want to get the tire out from under the fender. Disconect the brake caliper and hang it out of the way. jack up the bike so the rear wheel is just off the ground. Remove the axle nut and slide the axle out. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE WHERE THE SPACERS ARE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE AXLE. Remove the caliper mount. Once the axle and caliper mount are removed, all you have to do is wiggle the wheel until the drive spline separates from the final drive. You'll need to lift the wheel a little and cock it to the right to get it past the caliper mount pin. Reverse the process to reinstall.

Thanks for the feedback guys. My bike is a 96 RSTC/XVZ13AT(sorry I left that out). Any recomendations as to best place to buy tires? I want to replace front and rear. Also does anyone know where the best place in Jacksonville FL. I should go to and how much it will cost to have the new tires mounted and ballanced?

I say first ride only because I didn't have to worry about anything on the bike.

I went for a 60 mile first ride and my expectations were far exceeded. Only reason I didn't ride all day is because I had a doctor appointment, but there is always tomorrow. I just want to thank all of the great replys I got from the folks on this site to help me get the bugs worked out.

Now that your riding again, you might want to pay your dues and join the site. (not too busy fixin the scoot). Then you can post some pictures of your bike on the long rides you'll be taking.
