mother Posted August 16, 2013 #1 Posted August 16, 2013 i need throttle cable (the one that pulls the carb open), anyone have a spare one for me? cheers, Scott
Marcarl Posted August 16, 2013 #3 Posted August 16, 2013 I think I have one, just need to be sure. Got a picture?
mother Posted August 16, 2013 Author #4 Posted August 16, 2013 no picture as it is still on the bike, holding on with one little thread. it has the curved piece at the end going to the lower part of the carb and only one barrel on the end of the pull cable. this is the one i am looking for. the throttle return cable has two barrels on the end. this cable is fine on my bike. Trader says he has one on, but work involved in removing it from bike, so if you have one that would be great. cheers, Scott
Peder_y2k Posted August 16, 2013 #5 Posted August 16, 2013 I simply purchased a new one from partszilla. Not very expensive and quick shipping. I thought it such a bother to change that I shouldn't replace with anything less than new. The one replaced had only one broken strand, and now in the dump. -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA
Marcarl Posted August 16, 2013 #6 Posted August 16, 2013 Sorry Scott, upon further investigation the ones I have are not right,, somewhat like their present owner I suppose. I have 4 or 5 of those things, but none have the required bendie thing at the end. There are 4 cables in the system, 2 longer ones that go from the handle bar to the cruise control and then 2 shorter ones that go the carbs.
mother Posted August 16, 2013 Author #7 Posted August 16, 2013 I simply purchased a new one from partszilla. -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA[/sIZ a question for you. it looks like the cable goes into the cruise control, how is it attached in there? is the cable all one piece that goes from the throttle grip, through the cruise control unit and to the carb? thanks, Scott
Marcarl Posted August 16, 2013 #8 Posted August 16, 2013 I simply purchased a new one from partszilla. -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA[/sIZ a question for you. it looks like the cable goes into the cruise control, how is it attached in there? is the cable all one piece that goes from the throttle grip, through the cruise control unit and to the carb? thanks, Scott Cables go from the handle bar to the cruise control on the left side. That's the end of the first two cables. They hook into a pulley type thing affair. From there there are 2 shorter cables that go to the carbs, so 4 cables in all and they are all different.
Condor Posted August 16, 2013 #9 Posted August 16, 2013 I just did a 'venture royale throttle cables' search on eBay and got 19 hits. There's gotta be something in there some place that'll fit..... You might also try 'venture 1200 throttle cables' or 'venture XVZ1200 throttle cables'...
Peder_y2k Posted August 16, 2013 #10 Posted August 16, 2013 (edited) Actually, there are 5 cables. The 4 previously mentioned by Marcarl, plus the 5th one to the cruise control servo unit for bikes with cruise. The cable most often replaced is the short carb 'pull-open' cable with the curved metal tube with cable adjuster, part # 41V-26313-01-00 CABLE, THROTTLE 3 $22.30 at partszilla.com Don't know if this works, but here's a link: http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/1988/VENTURE+ROYAL+-+XVZ13DU/CARBURETOR+CALIFORNIA+MODEL/parts.html Pete, in Tacoma WA USA Edited August 17, 2013 by Peder_y2k

ddoggma Posted August 17, 2013 #13 Posted August 17, 2013 Just did that. Its called "cable #3" The job was not that bad. You have to take off that side of the fairing and remove that radio etc. Follow the directions on this site, take your time. Good luck.
