Gary N. Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I haven't heard of this problem from others but I've had it on two different RSVs. My wife was complaining about her headset cutting in and out both on music and communications. We thought we narrowed it down to a bad headset patch cable but with continued problems I determined that the cable running from under the fairing to the connector under the back seat was bad. On my last bike when I had this same problem I found a worn spot in the cable where it went behind the neck cover. This time the cable was bad in the same spot but there was no obvious damage or wear to the cable. When I moved or wiggled the cable at this spot the music would cut in and out. The bad cable is the one with the white markers on it. Just wanted to mention this in case anyone else might have the same problem.
LilBeaver Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Good info, thanks! I know my patch cables need to be replaced after 1-2 months. Irritates the bageebers out of me because they are $40.00/each. Well, the J&M warranty covers my replacements until the warranty period runs out and I have to buy another set. Still, it would be nice if my cables would last longer than they do. I have not investigated the cables on the bikes in a while though but thanks to your post here, I will go ahead and do that next time I have my tank off.
