It looks like the one. Looks like the same one that I have. It would depend on the type of helmut you are using. Full face, Half or bean helmut. You can also check out this site. www.wingstuff.com and then click on J&M
gibvel Posted February 21, 2008 Share #3 Posted February 21, 2008 It will work. Any 5 pin DIN plug set-up will work. Haven't had any experience with that particular set up though. I think that's the set some of the guys around here have gotten. I think Freebird will tell you he's tried lots from the high end to the low and he doesn't use any of them for his music because, while good for communication purposes, even the high end sets don't give you very good sound quality for music. Yes, this is true. I've had cheap sets and others that I paid over $200.00 per set for and honestly think that the expensive ones are a waste of money. That being said, I have not completely given up. I am still thinking about trying the newest Edsets. I have hesitated due to my past disappointments with the high dollar units and hate to spend another $200.00 per set for something that I may again be unhappy with. Jercoupe Posted February 21, 2008 Share #6 Posted February 21, 2008 Ok I know everyone thinks chatterbox is of poor quality but I have used the one made for harleys and goldwings for over 28000 miles now and they have worked just fine for us.. and only 69 bucks! Go save some dough.

Guest KitCarson Posted February 21, 2008 Share #8 Posted February 21, 2008 thanx. i am using fullface helmets. i was wondering about the plugs???I now own 4 sets of headsets of various styles....it is industry wide......Yamaha, Honda....all of them use a 5 pin set up....all headsets work and interchange as far as the pins go. It is best to get the drop cord or connection cord if you will to the bike for that particular brand bike though as some cord ends are slightly different ....not the pins and they will all work.....but those designed for that particular bike connect and secure better. I have two of the JM $60 dollar headsets and several of the 277 more better ones .......but cannot at all tell any difference in them.....but will say this last set of 277 I just put in a new modular helmet does have better sound and works better with the CB so they must have done something different with them. What I am talking about as far as the plug in is like with yamaha the plug is round and smooth and just plugs in.....the honda has a round molded section on the drop cord. and gets in the way with yamaha.....and yamaha cord that does not have the round piece on the end tends to fall out of the honda connection, so there is a slight difference. But all will work and interchange with each other. Go to any of the web sites that sell the headsets and you will find the basic set is 60 dollars on almost all of them......but also you will find different drop cords designed for each brand of bike.....they do secure and plug in better if you get the one designed for your bike . Guest tx2sturgis Posted February 21, 2008 Share #9 Posted February 21, 2008 Does anyone make a simple hand-mic for the Venture? And if so, does it actually key the transmitter, or do you still have to activate the PTT on the left grip?

If it is a 5 pin......should work.....they could not tell me that either.

Wizard765 Posted February 21, 2008 Share #12 Posted February 21, 2008 Does anyone make a simple hand-mic for the Venture? And if so, does it actually key the transmitter, or do you still have to activate the PTT on the left grip? I have a 1st Gen venture and aquired a CB on eBay from a 92. My 84 didn't come with a CB. I got a hand held mic with mine that has the 5 pin connector. I have no intentions of using it if you want it. Wayne

I was wondering the same thing a few weeks ago and the wonderful folks here let me know that most if not all of the people that have used this set are very happy with them and for the most part think they are a great buy. I have ordered those myself for a 3/4 helmet and am looking forward to being able to communicate with the group as we ride. Wayne
Guest oneshot Posted February 21, 2008 Share #14 Posted February 21, 2008 ok, i ordered 2 of them... now can someone steer me toward a ptt button for the cb?
Freebird Posted February 21, 2008 Share #15 Posted February 21, 2008 Not sure what you mean. The Venture has the PTT buttons from the factory. The front one is at your left hand. You can reach it without moving your hand from the grip. The rear one is on the left rear speaker pod. Black button.

silvercrew Posted February 22, 2008 Share #18 Posted February 22, 2008 I am installing a Integratr IV on my bike this year and I also have a headset question, is there much of a differance with the j&m 277 and the 584 headsets? The 584 is $60 more than the 277 but is it worth spending the extra for it? Any one have any experance with the 2 sets please help. Thanks
