aharbi Posted August 11, 2013 #1 Posted August 11, 2013 When I started riding again back in 2005 after a 32 year hiatus I bought the Chatterbox HJC-50 intercom. The main purpose was the intercom so my wife and I could chat, it put her at ease. I could also use it solo riding to listen to MP3 music and answer my cell phone by pushing a button. Also switching cables to the headset I could use either only the phone (auto answer) or with an audio cable listen to music both without using the HJC-50 controller. So I have 2 helmets with HJC headsets. In 2007 I got the Venture mainly because my wife really enjoys riding with me. We wanted a bigger bike, more room, more comfy. So we get new helmets with new J&M headsets and use the intercom/audio system of the Venture. I gain CB capability, cassette music, GPS/MP3 thru the Aux but loose cell phone capability which is not a big deal because the person that would call me in now behind me on the intercom. So now I have 4 helmets and 2 sets of non-interchangeable/noncompatible headsets. I've kept the previous bikes and added a new Triumph. Everything is bluetooth, none of the previous headsets work. So, yes once again I buy a new helmet and a Sena SMH10 bluetooth headset. I also update my cell phone to an iPhone because the bike is iPhone, iPod, iPad, GPS "ready". So now I have AM/FM/XM/Weather/Traffic, USB, MP3, GPS and cell phone (but no CB). My wife loves the Venture and probably will not ride with me on the Triumph. So now I have 5 helmets and 3 sets of non-interchangeable/noncompatible headsets. So whats the dilemma? On venture group rides I like to use the CB, if I do I can't use the iPhone. Has anyone figured out how to use the iPhone with the Venture wired headsets?
dacheedah Posted August 11, 2013 #3 Posted August 11, 2013 I spoke to a guy with a $20.00 fix, he just went to a dollar set and got an iphone earphones with mic. Took the headphones apart, Slipped the speakers next to his headset speaker and taped his mic to his other mic. Other option is to get a cellset of bluetooth gps.
RedRider Posted August 11, 2013 #4 Posted August 11, 2013 What GPS are you using? If it's a Zumo, you can bluetooth your phone thru that and use your wired system. RR
aharbi Posted August 11, 2013 Author #5 Posted August 11, 2013 I don't understand. Yes the GPS is a Zumo and has bluetooth. How do I get it to autoanswer. The iPhone is kinda neat and all but as a phone it stinks, my flip phone worked better with headsets.
