Ram Mount question. Just picked up a 765T for a reasonable price and I need Ram Mount. What length "ARM" do you use on a 2nd Gen. mounted on the left side near comm unit.

Medium 4" or Short 3":?

Tks...

TKS Skid....I was thinking of moving mine over near the centerline of the bike. Any others with pics like SKID?

I used a double mount and put the satellite Radio on the top knob with the short mount and the GPS on the lower knob on the long arm. This stacked them one above the other.

I use the 3 inch without any difficulties. I also have the 765 garmin

The one I bought as the Traffic Update thing build into the power cord. Do you use it in the Power Outlet, you another type of power cord or direct wire and just forget about the Traffic Stuff?

Thanks for the information....

I use two Ram mounts. They mount on top of the clutch and brake reservoirs. GoPro on left, GPS on right. I find that both have much less "bounce" with the shorter 3 inch arms.

Alrighty Mine is a 4" I also have the 765T. The mount was moved from another bike and I guess the 4" is what I needed on it, because looking at it I probably would have went with the 3" if setting up for this bike. The 4" works fine and I dont notice any shake etc. I have tried to position my electronics so they are out of the way of the dash so I could see any warning lights, speedo and trip odo. GPS on right, cell phone holder on left (not a RAM) was about $8 off e-bay. It works OK but it will get some shake to it, trying to budget for a RAM mount aqua box or something like that I think its called. Its suposed to be "universal" to some degree.

The pictures really help guys. I have the 4 inch and I like some of what I see here for adding one more.

As a line truck driver. I log over 130k miles a year using a Garmin 465 all the time and I toss in some other models all Garmin and one Magellan sometimes.

On the traffic question. The receiver is in the cord. Traffic is pretty much useless and I am saying that running 98% east if the Mississippi, lots of NY and LI Jersey and Chicago, and other traffic prone cities.

It just lights up and re routes you the same way everyone else is going to get around it. Using a cb and cell phones we determine we are better off most of the times staying on the road unless its an accident with a closed road. A cb works better than the traffic feature.

I suppose that's why its now free!

The cord is extremely expensive to replace. But running it on the bike I use a much thinner phone type cord for obvious reasons on a bike. Besides. I converted a GPS mount in the ram to hold my note 2 and Google maps shows traffic too when I need it. Duh never.

So just use a regular cord, thinner more flexible and plugs into a 2 amp USB CIG lighter type charger with two outlets keep phone charged too!

Plug into the power on the fairing unless you have something in there already. I tapped into the spare power line under the seat, ran a line into the fairing and put a power plug inside and wired in a waterproof switch next to the switch for the passing lights. Plugged in the gps and taped it in, ran the cord out and up the handle bars. I turn off the power at the switch when not in use. I have a satellite radio plugged into the power plug on the fairing.

Hi,

Not meaning to reopen an old thread, or drive it off topic, but I guess I'm risking both :innocent-emoticon:

First is to just say thank you. This thread helped me out a ton, and left me with one more question; Has anyone ever used the Ram-mount reservoir covers as an attachment point? Comments?

Secondly, in the second post Skid had a picture showing a faceplate on his controller that matches the dash color. Any idea where to get one of those?

Thanks as always

I put one on for an MP3 player before I got my Zumo.....I still use it for my EasyPass when Traveling. the only drawback is you have to take it off to refill / maintain you reservoir fluids

Thanks to all again. Made my decision, made my purchases.! :301:

Went with the regular handlebar u-bolt mount, a 3" arm and the X-Grip.
