star4772 Posted August 10, 2013 Author #3 Posted August 10, 2013 You can strip them, clean the aluminum up, and then reshoot them with a clear coat... Man you would have to strip the forks and tape everything off so as not to get it on everything. Need a body shop for that yes?

They make rattle can clears made for metals. They also make paint remover that will not harm fiberglass, so the aluminum should be safe. Remove the front fender, cover the tire, and tape the brake lines. Shoot 'm Dano.

DragonRider Posted August 10, 2013 #6 Posted August 10, 2013 Did it while I had my 83 down for trans fix. Used a aircraft grade paint stripper. It worked great and the forks looked great, never did get around to clearcoating them before I sold it and a year after they still looked great, just kept them clean and no problems. It was fast and easy. Ok will think about that one and see if any more suggestions. Thanks, Joe
