bmiller Posted August 9, 2013 #1 Posted August 9, 2013 What a great way to spend a couple of weeks. Touring some very pretty country, meeting some very nice people and riding!! It is funny how life happens despite our efforts to mold it the way we think it should go. At the age of 25 I went into business for myself and felt the best thing to do for the business was sell my scooter so I would remain focussed on the business. I loved riding back then. 3 years after that, a failed business under my belt and obligations to meet I never replaced the bike until last year. In hind sight I should have kept the scooter, not gone into business and enjoyed riding for the past 30 years. Hind sight is always 100% isn't it. The round trip totalled out at 7,334 KM or 4,584 Miles. I averaged 14.1Litres \ 100 k or 40.07 miles per gal. I averaged 611 km, 382 miles per day for the 12 days riding. The shortest being today a quick 314 k, 196 miles from Calgary to Edmonton, the longest was yesterday where I went from the southern border of Montana to Calgary, 911 k, 569 miles. I left Canada in the rain and I returned to rain so it seems not a lot has changed since I have been gone. I will be posting the return trip pictures to my album (likely tomorrow), some samples below. Now, where to go next year....
buddy Posted August 9, 2013 #2 Posted August 9, 2013 Nice photos In a way I know how you feel sold my honda when I was raising two kids did not ride until the kids were almost out of school which was my 83 Venture Peg & I added the miles I put on my touring bikes combined when I sold my last bike It all added up to 201,263.00 . 38,485.00 of that was when Peg rode with me Trying to say is you may have been off for some time now that your back to riding you can add the miles up really quick Looking forward to more photos and hope we get together later down the road Buddy

Trader Posted August 10, 2013 #4 Posted August 10, 2013 My wife and I had plans to go visit her mother (about 200 miles each way) about 2 days after I got back from the International. I had just been away for a week and ridden just over 2600 miles . I asked her an innocent question...."wanna take the bike?" She got very upset and said "that was the worst thing you could have said....I had hoped you had got that out of your system!" Now I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box....but I really don't understand that at all! We took the cage!
djh3 Posted August 10, 2013 #5 Posted August 10, 2013 Yea Trader I dont get it. I'd rather fire up the bike any day then take the car. They seem to have a hard time leaving all the extras at home. Pair of shoes for this day and these shoes dont match my jeans, 4 different bluses "just in case". I'm leavin Fla on the 27th for Canada via Ny finger lakes region. I'm going up for 3 days of work so have to take uniforms for them 3 days. Besides th required under clothes I'm thinkin a t-shirt a day and 2 pair of jeans will get it. Oh and very nice pics.
bmiller Posted August 12, 2013 Author #6 Posted August 12, 2013 I guess my album space is full because I was only able to upload 2 pictures. Dingy provided me with instructions on how to do a drop box link so here goes for those wanting to see pictures of the return trip. If this did not work let me know and I will give it another go. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5xhrr8bmf8urmws/j7mncg9S2U
