86er Posted February 21, 2008 #1 Posted February 21, 2008 The Moon started into hiding about 15 minutes ago and it's pretty cool! The lower left quarter is now missing. We have broken clouds here so it kind of comes and goes, disappearing a little more each time; it lends a bit of Lon Chaney feel to it! It's only supposed to last about 50 minutes and be a dark orange at it's peak.
mini-muffin Posted February 21, 2008 #2 Posted February 21, 2008 They said peak is suppose to be at 10:01 tonight east coast time. Just went to look we have clouds at the moment I'll try again a little later. Margaret
Mariner Fan Posted February 21, 2008 #3 Posted February 21, 2008 Clear skies here. Moon is partially covered.
sarges46 Posted February 21, 2008 #4 Posted February 21, 2008 Daughter and I are watching it right now. What a good time....she asked what caused this...she's 11...so I found two balls and a flashlight and showed her how it works. Pretty cool!

relic Posted February 21, 2008 #6 Posted February 21, 2008 Crystal clear here and it is 3/4 covered now. As Diane B would say AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Mariner Fan Posted February 21, 2008 #7 Posted February 21, 2008 Almost covered. The Moon is getting orange. Wish I had a telescope so I could see Saturn. I guess during the eclipse you can see the rings better.
flb_78 Posted February 21, 2008 #8 Posted February 21, 2008 I appreciate all the pictures you folks are posting. It's overcast, foggy, cloudy and down right depressing right now.
Animal Posted February 21, 2008 #9 Posted February 21, 2008 Drats! I can't see it either... too many clouds after being clear all day. But if you go to "Astronomy Picture of the Day" in a day or so, it will probably be pictured there.
Eddie Posted February 21, 2008 #10 Posted February 21, 2008 Its cool lookin here, bet Al Bates is taking pictures of it.
AKRefugee Posted February 21, 2008 #11 Posted February 21, 2008 Really neat here in CT. Son said first time he had seen a red moon.
Snarley Bill Posted February 21, 2008 #12 Posted February 21, 2008 9:55 here in st. louis and it's almost totally covered.
Guest tessa c2 Posted February 21, 2008 #13 Posted February 21, 2008 it's clear as a bell here took some dandy pics of it just a tad of silver showing at the 5 o clock possition now
MamaMo Posted February 21, 2008 #14 Posted February 21, 2008 I got to see parts the eclipse in between working. Here are some of my pics. Cropped them so you can see the colors better on the moon. Wished they were better. But then I was at work with spot lights and overhead lights around at the station.
Al Bates Posted February 21, 2008 #15 Posted February 21, 2008 Lunar Eclipse 2.20.2008 Canon Rebel XT 300mm zoom By Al Bates
86er Posted February 21, 2008 Author #16 Posted February 21, 2008 Nice shot Al! It didn't seem that orange here, I guess due to the thin clouds that were scuttling across the sky.
