Leadwolf56 Posted August 8, 2013 #26 Posted August 8, 2013 John....I read this and started laughing like hell, were really not all as prudish as we appear. Some of us are, but there are others, like myself, that will partake every once in a while. We just mind our P's & Q's here on the site and when there are kids around. I have helped a few of the members here back to their tents, cabins or even into their houses before after a few too many ahem...libations Yeah, we know you like frozen margaritas, remember I had to go get more tequila..................
Condor Posted August 9, 2013 #27 Posted August 9, 2013 Apple Pie?? Never heard of it..... Don't feel alone Dan. Me neither..... Now apple jack.....

Hummingbird Posted August 9, 2013 #29 Posted August 9, 2013 I don't mix meds and alcohol...period....that is a huge no no. I tried the tramadol over the weekend after my knee was drained thurs. all I go was a huge migraine on Monday from my effort. Trust me when I say I don't want to be a burden to family by screwing up and doing bad things. However a half glass of a decent alcohol will give me bliss for a few hrs with no hangover. I hate being smashed and out of control. ATM I can barely walk stairs without assistance...this a big deal since the entire house is stairs. There's has to be surgery to get some relief. My right knee got so bad that I couldn't push the accelerator on the truck. Enter titanium
Dragonslayer Posted August 9, 2013 #30 Posted August 9, 2013 Dad used to run shine here in Middle GA back in the day...well mostly he was a lookout as a kid then when he was older he helped make and run it. Guess that's why his WW2 enlistment form lists him as a chemical engineer...because he never made it past 7th grade.... Just like my Momma used to always tell me..... Son, you can be anything you want to be. Not saying, Just saying.
Dragonslayer Posted August 9, 2013 #31 Posted August 9, 2013 Can one be allergic to ones self?......... Yes.... I've seen it done.
GAWildKat Posted August 10, 2013 #32 Posted August 10, 2013 There's has to be surgery to get some relief. My right knee got so bad that I couldn't push the accelerator on the truck. Enter titanium I need surgery soon to fix the bone on bone issue I'm having with my right knee. I'm told it probably won't be a replacement, doc thinks something tore although the MRI was inconclusive. I learn Monday what my options are. I'm 39 yrs old. I'm not ready to go through joint replacement. Especially since I have a significant metal allergy. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Flyinfool Posted August 25, 2013 #33 Posted August 25, 2013 Well I just finished brewing my first test batch. I have a feeling it will not be around long.......
ragtop69gs Posted August 25, 2013 #34 Posted August 25, 2013 Apple Pie?? Never heard of it..... After seeing the way you pitched your tent at MD, I'd have to say you just forgot that the two of you have met before, and probably before you set up camp.
stickhandle2 Posted August 31, 2013 #35 Posted August 31, 2013 Well I just finished brewing my first test batch. I have a feeling it will not be around long....... We have just finished our first batch as well, I know your supposed to let it sit for a couple weeks, but it already tastes so good. 9 litres ha it will not last, guess we have to make another weekend trip to Buffalo to get some Everclear, unless anyone from Ontario knows where to get Alcool from, as it is no where to be found around us in Hamilton. Mike.

Mike. Used to get it a the LCBO but they upped the price big time.

stickhandle2 Posted August 31, 2013 #38 Posted August 31, 2013 Used to get it a the LCBO but they upped the price big time. I was told by a couple of LCBO stores that they don't carry it any longer, one Hamilton store said they have some grain alcohol, but he couldn't sell it with out a prescription as it was for medical purposes...........I think he just didn't want to have to walk to the back to get it. Prescription at the LCBO....yea right.
Huggy Posted August 31, 2013 #39 Posted August 31, 2013 Apparently the only provinces that sell it are Alberta I believe and Quebec. The stuff is made in Quebec and is only something like 47% proof. Maybe we should make a group buy and do a good ole moonshine run to Buffalo!!!!!!
Flyinfool Posted August 31, 2013 #40 Posted August 31, 2013 Around here if it is called grain alcohol, then the max they can sell is 100 proof, or 50% alcohol with 50% water. But if they call it vodka, then it can go up to 190 proof, 95% alky with 5% distilled water added.
Huggy Posted August 31, 2013 #42 Posted August 31, 2013 that means more weekends in Buffalo. And that's a bad thing?
stickhandle2 Posted August 31, 2013 #43 Posted August 31, 2013 I used EverClear that we bought in Buffalo I think it was 190 proof, it said grain alcohol on the label. The batch tastes good.
Huggy Posted August 31, 2013 #44 Posted August 31, 2013 I used EverClear that we bought in Buffalo I think it was 190 proof, it said grain alcohol on the label. The batch tastes good. So how much EverClear in Buffalo?
stickhandle2 Posted August 31, 2013 #45 Posted August 31, 2013 We got a 40oz or 1 litre, it was 20.99, have also seen it in 750ml size and 1.75l size. The recipe we used called for 1 litre so just to keep it dumby proof we bought the 40oz size. The hassle for us Canucks, is that we have to be out of Canada for 48 hours to bring back 40oz of liquor. Or you just pay the duty when you bring it back on a day trip. I know for 12 beer with groceries on day trip you dont usually get much of a hassle crossing the border. It seems liquor can be a different story. Mike.
Huggy Posted August 31, 2013 #46 Posted August 31, 2013 OK Mike. We need an excuse to go to the States for more than 48 hours then. Hmmmmmm:whistling:
stickhandle2 Posted August 31, 2013 #47 Posted August 31, 2013 Always up for a ride, have done quite a bit of exploring in the WNY area this summer, even better the boss likes to do the trips on the bike. That means not much shopping except for the essentials.
