Hopnel Tuxedo Tie

My wife got me this, but the parts that are supposed to be attached to the gas tank with Velcro don't even come close to the tank. Anyone else find this a problem? The rest of it works fine: the 2 holes line up correctly under the front of the seat, the gas cap hole is fine, although quite a tight fit, & the plastic thingy around the gas cap holds everything down quite well. I didn't remove the rubber piece down the middle of the gas tank. So, at the front of the gas tank, the tuxedo tie sticks out some, but certainly would not be able to attach to the gas tank front. Am I missing something? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I would remove the rubber that is there now and you will get a much better fit. Its on with double sided tape. The velcro strips at the very front on mine don't attach to anything really....but I don't notice it and I don't think it really matters.
