XV1100SE Posted August 4, 2013 #1 Posted August 4, 2013 During our trip we've seen a couple 1st Gens and a couple 2nd Gens... usually going the other way. My reaction is to turn to channel 29 on the cb and call out if there are any Venture Riders out there. No response. When you pass by another Venture.... what do you do other than to wave?
tomephil Posted August 4, 2013 #3 Posted August 4, 2013 I just wave, but I wave to all bikes and scooters. And my cb talk button doesn't work... Yea, I know Jay, I'll look at it before next year.
slowrollwv Posted August 4, 2013 #4 Posted August 4, 2013 I have seen a few going the other way on the interstate. I usually run channel 19 when by my self. Have talked to a few but I always wave.
Venturous Randy Posted August 4, 2013 #5 Posted August 4, 2013 If going the other way and on a two lane, I will try to hit the air horns. If I see them parked, I will try to stop and introduce myself and mention Venture Rider.org. RandyA
Squidley Posted August 4, 2013 #6 Posted August 4, 2013 I down shift 2 gears, make a hard left and powerslide the rear wheel around. Then I punch the throttle and pull the front wheel off the ground. I speed up on them waving wildly and see if they stop or run like hell because they think I'm a lunatic .....sometimes I just wave
Peder_y2k Posted August 4, 2013 #7 Posted August 4, 2013 Me........... I go into shock!? There's another 1st Gen. Venture out there? Amaazzzzing... -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA

bongobobny Posted August 4, 2013 #11 Posted August 4, 2013 Yup! I get excited and both wave and beep...
Mike G in SC Posted August 4, 2013 #12 Posted August 4, 2013 Wave,,,,, Like Forrest Gump on his shrimp boat! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMse7XwZmoA]Forest Gump Wave - YouTube[/ame]
2WHEELSFORME Posted August 4, 2013 #13 Posted August 4, 2013 If you gave them special attention here you would be busy. They are very common and seen all over.
Squidley Posted August 4, 2013 #14 Posted August 4, 2013 Wave,,,,, Like Forrest Gump on his shrimp boat! I have had guys wave to me like that on a bike, you know they just bought it or this is there 1st "Real" bike
spear Posted August 5, 2013 #15 Posted August 5, 2013 I wish I could just find another one. Very few and far between in Oz. In fact the last one I saw I was 1,500kms away from home (in the tin top) and pulled up on the side of the highway taking photos of a canola crop. I could hear this familiar exhaust note approaching along with another familiar sound. Before I could give a wave and an invite to pull in, an identical bike to mine - fitted with the same Voyager outfit went flying by. So, in case anybody from the Adelaide area is reading this (rego plate WEDGE?) you looked good mate.
MikeWa Posted August 5, 2013 #16 Posted August 5, 2013 I just lay on the air horn. Wait.. I don't have an air horn. Never mind. Mike
IronMike Posted August 5, 2013 #17 Posted August 5, 2013 Ive only seen 2. One was a very young guy going East on 76 and one was parkeed at a bar. I quickly take inventory on what is on the bike as far as accessories. .... Like to know what works. Since I drive about 130k miles a year by truck. Chances are a wave qont be seen although I catch myself doing that. I don't run a cb in the truck. Most drivers don't listen to the cb unless therr is an accident or road clog. Xm radio. Cell phones surfing this site you know the deal. Other things to do. Even the Miles I travel I dont see many ventures. Mostly HD BMW and Gold Wings.
Ky. Rider Posted August 5, 2013 #18 Posted August 5, 2013 My wave usually includes a thumbs up if I see those "eyebrows" coming. 1st gens are harder for me to detect. (I know, probably going too fast!)
Silverado6x6 Posted August 6, 2013 #19 Posted August 6, 2013 I have seen only two First generation ventures so far in Alaska. And I own both.
Marcarl Posted August 6, 2013 #20 Posted August 6, 2013 I do the same as Squid, except than I can catch them,,, hey, I ride a first gen,,,, and my lips are moving!
star4772 Posted August 6, 2013 #21 Posted August 6, 2013 I wave and think to my self THANK GOD NOT ANOTHER HARLEY. Here in AZ anyway seems like Harley country out here. Guess by Saturday I'll be adding another RSTD to the mix in trade for my sporty.

Guess by Saturday I'll be adding another RSTD to the mix in trade for my sporty. Those Arizonans really have a great comradely when it comes to other Harley riders. Why the last time I drove across AZ there must have been 5 or 6 meetings going on by the side of the road. Even saw one individual on his knees praying. Now that's what I call devotion....

BradT Posted August 7, 2013 #24 Posted August 7, 2013 Ask Swifty what he does when he meets another venture Brad
RandyR Posted August 8, 2013 #25 Posted August 8, 2013 We both head for the nearest DQ where we can swap lies.
