Just got a dyna 3000. It says model d3k7-5 on the box but I see no dip switches just two lights on the back. It does not look like the one pictured in the tech section for 2nd gen dyna install. It also has a usb port on the side, is this right for the 2n gen venture?

Strange. My D3K7-5 has a small red pad with six dip switches next to the two LEDs. It also has a white two inch square chart listing the dip switch settings on the other side of the LEDs. Perhaps you need to call Dynatech to find out what you have.

I have not seen one in person yet, but there has been a lot of chatter over on the Delphi forums about the new version of the DYNA 3K that just came out in the past few months and it is just as you described, no dip switches , you program or set up via the USB port.

It could be that all you need to do is plug it in to your laptop or computer and then look for it as a new drive or external equipment and then open files or folders as you would any other program.

I understand that they are more flexible in the set ups than the finite combinations of dip switch positions on the originals.

They have also have noted that the web site for DYNA is not up to date and does not show the new model.

I am at work tonight so couldn't play with it much. Did some searching and a guy on the vmax forum ran in to the same thing. Found out it is indeed the new modle for the dk3 models. There are 2 programed curves and curve 2 is the default. looking at the graphs for the dip switches and the 2 installed curves it looks like curve 1 is very close to stock with advance being at 32deg instead of 30 and rev limit at 7200. Curve 2 is set between 3 and 5 with dip switch modle and being at 35deg and rev limit at 7600. The new unit also has extra wires on it for other features, one of which is a handlebar curve switch to change the two curves, and it is not listed on their site. There is a curve maker software download on their site and I tried playing with that a little before work but was getting an eror and not connecting to device.
