Huggy Posted August 1, 2013 #1 Posted August 1, 2013 Do you do a bench sync on the Gen 1 carbs like we do with the carbs on the Yamaha XJ's and Seca's? On them we have to set for a gap on the butterflies the thickness of a strip of business card in the closed position. Do we have to do anything like that with these carbs?
Venturous Randy Posted August 1, 2013 #2 Posted August 1, 2013 Doing this would get you close, but I would still do a sync on the bike. RandyA
MiCarl Posted August 1, 2013 #3 Posted August 1, 2013 You definitely can. You don't have to on any motorcycle, but life is easier if you start with them close. Personally I don't mess with strips of business card etc. I just look through them and make sure the little crescents of light look the same. I generally get them within 2" Hg just by looking through them.
Bob Myers Posted August 1, 2013 #4 Posted August 1, 2013 last set I did, I bench set them with a #60 drill bit in the gap. When I fired it up the idle was real close, and as Carl said I was within 2"Hg on the gauges.
