Huggy Posted July 31, 2013 #1 Posted July 31, 2013 How do you get the muffler exhaust gasket on???? Its to small to fit over the pipe from the collector and to BIG to fit into the exhaust pipe end!!!!!
Prairiehammer Posted July 31, 2013 #2 Posted July 31, 2013 Believe me, I am not being insolent, but did you take out/off the old gasket? Are the new gaskets from Yamaha or are they aftermarket? It is a necessarily tight fit, so be sure all rust and old gasket remains are removed.
Black wing Posted July 31, 2013 #3 Posted July 31, 2013 i had to bend my flaps out a bit with pliers to get the gasket to fit in and some perswasive tapping to get the pipe in after

Then I tapped the muffler with a PLASTIC headed hammer. Then when I got to the last 3/4 to 1/2 inch I used a TWO pound hammer and piece of hard wood to go the rest of the way. Its nice and tight NOW!!!! Thanks for the info guys.
Huggy Posted August 1, 2013 Author #6 Posted August 1, 2013 The two pounder worked great!!!!! I would have used the 5 pound sledge hammer but I couldn't get the wife to hold the piece of hard wood for me:confused24:. She said she didn't like the way my eyes lite up when I suggested it!!!
