Condor Posted July 30, 2013 #2 Posted July 30, 2013 just down under the speedo/ tach housing is a box with a tiny toggle switch and a light which is not lit. what is it for? thanks. Turn it on and see what happens....

sandman Posted July 30, 2013 #4 Posted July 30, 2013 Not knowing exactly what model you have(goes by vin#) it is either the cloaking device or self destruct mechanism.
stroker ace Posted July 30, 2013 #5 Posted July 30, 2013 I thought it was for the manual v-boost or to arm the nitrous system.
Prairiehammer Posted July 30, 2013 #6 Posted July 30, 2013 just down under the speedo/ tach housing is a box with a tiny toggle switch and a light which is not lit. what is it for? thanks. Without having a handle on the year of your Venture I cannot say what it is you describe, but if it is a First Gen Venture, the described apparatus is not stock. Apparently added by a PO. A pic might be nice just so we can see how the PO added some accessory switches.
jakester Posted July 30, 2013 #7 Posted July 30, 2013 It is for the passenger ejection seat, for when you have just had enough. They also installed radar deflection shields for going past a police radar undetected. Be careful turning it on as to be sure which mode it is in.
k9cottage Posted July 30, 2013 #8 Posted July 30, 2013 it is a flux capacitor switch for dragging a 1st gen into the now
oldgoat Posted July 30, 2013 #10 Posted July 30, 2013 parachute button. so the second gens can catch up.
terry hutchens Posted July 30, 2013 Author #11 Posted July 30, 2013 lmao! can't upload a pic but here is the vin# 1984 royale JYA41V001EA002994:)
Flyinfool Posted July 30, 2013 #12 Posted July 30, 2013 I thought it was for the manual v-boost or to arm the nitrous system. The 2nd gens just think that all 1st gens have nitrous or v-boost..... The switch could be to turn off the spark to a couple a cylinders so that you can ride WITH a 2nd gen..... That switch is not an OEM switch, follow the wires to see what they are connected to. It could even be for something that is no longer installed on the bike.
terry hutchens Posted July 30, 2013 Author #13 Posted July 30, 2013 btw it's a small box with cooling fins on it.
Condor Posted July 30, 2013 #14 Posted July 30, 2013 Have ya'll noticed since most of the posters are at the International, the posting numbers have dropped.... but the quality has gone up....
Flyinfool Posted July 30, 2013 #15 Posted July 30, 2013 Ohhhhh the plot thickens........ We need pics.
SilvrT Posted July 30, 2013 #16 Posted July 30, 2013 Not knowing exactly what model you have Without having a handle on the year of your Venture It's in his profile ..... Oh he already posted it.

terry hutchens Posted July 31, 2013 Author #19 Posted July 31, 2013 not a very good pic QSWITCH? dot?
Prairiehammer Posted July 31, 2013 #20 Posted July 31, 2013 (edited) not a very good pic QSWITCH? dot? I suspect "DOT" is for Department of Transportation, ie, DOT approved. Perhaps a headlight modulator? More information please. Can you read any other information on the box? Q-Switch is a name used by Sound Off, Inc for various headlight flashers, perhaps for emergency vehicles. Edited July 31, 2013 by Prairiehammer
terry hutchens Posted July 31, 2013 Author #21 Posted July 31, 2013 audio? it's on now maybe turn off tomorrow see what happens

jakester Posted July 31, 2013 #24 Posted July 31, 2013 anti theft:stirthepot: now, now ...lets remember it is a 1st gen. It must be a old setup.

I second the headlight modulator idea, with the cooling fins etc.
