BMW Posted July 30, 2013 #1 Posted July 30, 2013 I purchased an E3 150/80H-16 biasply front tire for my 2005 RSV, turns out to be defective. Wanted to exchange it for another and Motorcyclesuperstore tells me that they no longer will sell this tire as dunlop tire mfg. told them there is a known problem with this tire and they are no longer selling it. Has anyone else heard of any such issues with this tire? Bill......
midnightrider1300 Posted July 30, 2013 #2 Posted July 30, 2013 Bill, I checked today and it's listed as out of stock... I work at a dealership and order one for myself & our dealer is out of stock till 8/9/13... don't know whats going on ...
djh3 Posted July 30, 2013 #3 Posted July 30, 2013 Contact Dunlap. See what they say. Would motorcycle superstore not square up with you?
BMW Posted July 30, 2013 Author #4 Posted July 30, 2013 As of right now they will refund my money after I return the tire. Because I also purchased the rear tire at the same time I would like to keep both tire as dunlops so I'm thinking of trying the smaller front tire MT90B16, at this time it's still listed on their web site. I will be talking with a supervisor later today from motorcycle superstore. Also will call dunlop and see what they have to say about this.
djh3 Posted July 30, 2013 #5 Posted July 30, 2013 Sounds kinda like Dunlap found out they have issues with a tire type built between x date and y date. So they recalled. Where as Avon I have seen many complaints abour sidewall cracks and they dont seem to do anything. I'm running the Michelien Commander 2 in the 190 on the front. I also have to forks lowered about 3/4" in the trip tree. I personaly dont notice any huge big change in handeling. Maybe a little better at low speeds with a quicker turn in. But I sure havent had any lane wobble or wiggling at highway speeds.
Condor Posted July 30, 2013 #6 Posted July 30, 2013 I just ordered a set of E3's from Jake Wilson and dropped them off at my local Y dealer for install next Saturday. Didn't take them out of the wrap, and now you've got me thinkin'... Keep us posted on what Dunlop sez about the problem....
BMW Posted July 30, 2013 Author #7 Posted July 30, 2013 Just hung up with rep from dunlop, he confirmed with me that there is no issues as far as defects. The only problem right now is they have none in stock. So I am going with the MT90HB-16 smaller front tire in order to keep dunlops on the front and rear as I originally purchased. We'll see how it rides and go from there:fingers-crossed-emo
BMW Posted July 30, 2013 Author #8 Posted July 30, 2013 Still trying to get either motorcycle superstore or dunlop tires to reimburse me for mounting and balancing. Had original tire balanced twice at two different shops in an attempt to stop vibrations. I have a video of the tire running out but can't get it to upload here. But if someone wanted to see it I could email it.

BMW Posted August 2, 2013 Author #10 Posted August 2, 2013 OK I just took the bike out for a spin with the new smaller front tire "Dunlop E3 MT90B16". I feel that it handles much better as far as cruising around town and parking lot speeds. Not very good when you get the speed up over 65, very squirelly, very touchy on the steering. I will probably go back to the original 150/80-16. Just my thoughts on it.
BMW Posted August 2, 2013 Author #11 Posted August 2, 2013 Anybody interested in a Dunlop E3 MT90B-16 front tire with very low miles, just put it on yesterday. I will be changing it out as soon as my 150/80-16 arrives. Let me know, I'll put it up in the classifieds as soon as I get it off the bike.

Had the E3's mounted and balanced on Seven yesterday morning. Even though the Metzler on the front was virtually like new... On the way to the dealer it felt like the bike was all over the place. Afterwords on the way back to the barn the bike felt like it was on rails. I'm a happy camper, and I should have expected as much seeing as how I experienced the same thing on the '99 just prior to riding to Cody. DeJa Vu!!
