Time for tires

187 miles short of 17,000. I would've ridden more but I found these cracks in the tread and figured it won't be much longer until I can see the air inside the tire through one of the 3 cracks. Dunlop Elite II

...you certainly got your money's worth! I just replaced my front E3...had 14,000 on it...had more miles, but I had a trip coming up!

did you have Dunlop 404's or Dunlop 491 Elite2's ? I am thinking you had 404's as they are as Dunlops entry level tire.

491 Elite II on both ends

I really like the Elite II's before but since they were discontinued I had to go with the Elite III's. I like the III's but may not get 20K miles on the like I did on the II's.

Did you go with bias or radial? I found 8 of the exact same tires I have so i'm going to jump onone of them before they're long gone, $177.00 plus shipping,, unless you folks who are in the know tell me to either go radial or with Elite III's.

Likely the bias is going to win, I'm only changing the rear now, the front has maybe 3k on it.

See if they will give you a date code on the tire. If they have stopped making them they may be old to start with.

Elite II is still in production apparently, bias ply are any way. Called Honda dealer near my house and they said their supplier will not sell them tires over one calendar year old. $250, mounted and balanced.

Bob just sent you an e-mail with coupons for tires from motorcycle superstore. Dont know if you can use but hey I thought it was worth sending on. I mounted up Michelien commander 2 last time. So far so good. My E-3's were towards the end when I was getting ready for a trip, plus they were howling.

Thanks Dion, I went through the motions of ordering, and after applying the discount it would have saved me almost .90! I ordered from the Honda shop, they price matched Dennis Kirk price, and mount and balance for $30.00 Would have been $45 if I carry in a tire.

I just replaced a Michelin Commander II rear with about 20k miles,,, with another same.

Great ride. Still had 4/16 tread but was on a trip pulling a trailer.

 

I used to get 15K miles out of Venoms.

:rotf:Figures Bob. But like I said sometimes its worth it. My son just bought a room AC unit. Found it at Lowes, then I did some searching around and found it available at Home Depot for less. Well the policey is they match + 10%. So they did that then my boy asks about a military discount and they said sure, so I got out the ID card and they took another 10% off. All totaled up they took about $140 off the price.
