Condor Posted July 28, 2013 #3 Posted July 28, 2013 Add a little Sea Foam to the oil. It should clean right up. My first '83 was pretty grungy, and I had to use a flashlight to get a dim view of the level. After changing the oil a few times with quality oil, the glass cleared up.... I might add that I change oil twice a year rather than trying to see how many miles I can get out of it. 10-30/winter, 20-50summer.

Condor Posted July 28, 2013 #5 Posted July 28, 2013 Heck, I thought he was talking about the outside not the inside, Geeze... maybe he was.... :confused07:
Phoneman1981 Posted July 28, 2013 #7 Posted July 28, 2013 Made me laugh. Anxious to see which side is dirty?
Sleeperhawk Posted July 28, 2013 #10 Posted July 28, 2013 Turn the glass inside out and use WD40. Well dang, I always washed the out side of the glass when cleaning the bike, never had an issue seeing the oil. Now I have to wash the inside too :crying:

Guest tx2sturgis Posted July 28, 2013 #12 Posted July 28, 2013 Fill with Tide and run for 1/2 hour should do the trick!!:rotfl: You forgot to mention it needs to be set on permanent press...these bikes get so wrinkly!
Kirby Posted July 28, 2013 #13 Posted July 28, 2013 Twice around the block on the spin cycle then once around on high heat should get rid of the wrinkles.
Condor Posted July 28, 2013 #14 Posted July 28, 2013 It's amazing how a thread can go south so quickly......
Huggy Posted July 29, 2013 #15 Posted July 29, 2013 It's amazing how a thread can go south so quickly...... That has something to do with the age of most of us! Our minds start to wader and then we tend to just kind of wander off talking about the last thing we heard. And why are we going south again? Is there a party down there or something?

'Going South' is an old expression used for something that starts to deteriorate. Of course this is way before your time....
djh3 Posted July 29, 2013 #17 Posted July 29, 2013 Look it over. I think my 900 vulcan was held in by a snap ring. If its that dirty sombody left oil in there a long time.
Flyinfool Posted July 29, 2013 #18 Posted July 29, 2013 SeaFoam in the oil will help clean it out. follow instructions on the can.
