Silverado6x6 Posted July 28, 2013 #1 Posted July 28, 2013 I just picked up an 89 Royale this morning, has all the radio, Cb, PTT on left controls, rear passenger module. What has been done to purchase headsets with Bluetooth, to integrate such Bluetooth to bike or is it better to just use the standard 5 pin cord sets? see I know nothing about all of this, its like going from a 20 year old VW to a modern all options caddy, well maybe a loaded 24 year old Caddy...

I run wired and it sounds and works great, I do know other members run bluetooth so I'll let them chime in. . .
GeorgeS Posted July 28, 2013 #3 Posted July 28, 2013 If everything work, just get a J + M headset unit with the 5 pin plug, and use whats there . You can also get one of those Cassett things. with a cord on it to plug into an MP-3. Not sure if radio shack still has them The AM FM radios on these bikes work pretty good, if there is no problem with them The Cassett deck, can be removed, and opened up and cleaned out, and maby a bit of lubrication, if you have Cassette Tapes, I used mine for years, and it was still working when I sold the bike last year ( an 89 )
Silverado6x6 Posted July 28, 2013 Author #4 Posted July 28, 2013 J&M headsets were mentioned quite often in archived threads, sounds like a plan to me, the radio sounds good but rather monotone but that could be my old ears, first thing will be 4" two way speakers installed, good waterproof ones.
Bob Myers Posted July 28, 2013 #5 Posted July 28, 2013 I too use the 5pin factory setup with J&M headsets. Wife and I also use the same setup on our Vulcans when we are riding separately.

Guest bodasefus Posted August 6, 2013 #7 Posted August 6, 2013 http://ventureaudiolink.wordpress.com/ a very interesting device that seams easy to install and will add bluetooth... I think I am going to get one as it will give me an option to play my music from my android phone or iTouch units...
gwashorn Posted August 7, 2013 #8 Posted August 7, 2013 I went with the Sena 10 series headsets and have added the Sena 10 bluetooth interface. It works fine but my cord has a problem. So have a used cord to change out and other items and will see if that works. this way my full 89' VR audio will work with the bluetooth, I will have rider intercom along with cell phone interface and can add an MP3 or GPS to the unit. Hope my cable I got will fix the connection problem I had. This is how I am going to try and do this.
