Sylvester Posted July 26, 2013 #27 Posted July 26, 2013 I wired my trailer so I could use the 5 wire setup off my 02 Venture. I added two amber turn signals to the trailer and used the original red tail/stop/turn lights as tail/stop only. Very easy set up and very quick. Only had to run one wire back for stop.
CaptainJoe Posted July 27, 2013 #28 Posted July 27, 2013 Sorry folks, been busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.... My 5 wire bike is converted to a 4 wire. Would like to get the trailer wired to accept 4 wire from my bike. That way i could haul with the bike, car or truck., The idea of getting prewired lights from harbor freight ... is a pretty good one as it would save time... otherwise we will just do what we need to to the trailer to get it to work. might have to miss the first night of the rally as this could be time consuming...
Monty Posted July 27, 2013 #29 Posted July 27, 2013 I removed the lights from mine & installed the red LED lights that were the same size. It is now a 4-wire setup.
dacheedah Posted July 27, 2013 #30 Posted July 27, 2013 Jeff can help you with that in short order, I like the idea of 4 flat, more versatile.

It took 6 hours to git her done. Had to rewire every bit of the trailer. Nothing was salvageable. Then spent a couple more hours trouble shooting. wore all of the hair off one side of my head        But finally figured it out. I just hope he makes it to Galina OK in the dark having never pulled a trailer before. He is going thru a lot of deer country. He should be there in about another 1.5 hours 11:30 PM local time. I did give him an escort for the first 20 miles out of town to be sure all was well. My 1st gen did not like when I backed off to follow to see how it was tracking. It looked to have just a hint of a fishtail at around 65MPH.
