Peder_y2k Posted July 25, 2013 #1 Posted July 25, 2013 '88VR The gear indicator switch continues to leak despite a new factory o-ring and proper installation. No cracks in unit. Shows wetness at the soldered wire-contact points. I'm suspecting oil is leaking right past some of the contact leads where they pass thru the plastic housing. This may be fixable by thoroughly cleaning the unit and then coating the outside with some sealer such as RTV. Thoughts? -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA
Trader Posted July 25, 2013 #2 Posted July 25, 2013 Wow...I over torqued the screw holding the shift indicator plate and cracked it....but it still doesn't leak! Sure it's not something else? (Slave Cyl seal?)
Big Lou Posted July 25, 2013 #3 Posted July 25, 2013 I RVT'd the whole thing .. oring and seal,, plus wiped it on outside cauce I thought water would mess a fuse up ,, rain looked like it could come up .. I didnt have a belly pan,, It was preventative thing while I had it apart>> used to 4x4's no problems YET
