I need a schematic of the individual resistors and diodes for a tci, or the link to who sells the Ignitek conversion, opened mine up and about seven components were nothing but corrosion.

There are 8 diodes in the TCI that are known to corrode and fail. They are round blue and gray. This is a common issue.

There are several threads on how to do this repair.

The diodes can be replaced with any 1N400X diode.

But other parts than the diodes may be gone as well, so is there a breakdown somewhere here of exactly what goes where?

I am on a tablet and cannot upload any image but they are the diodes below the transistors.

I called up my local Radio Shack, they had the diodes available, I have the circuit board apart, I have modest electronic skills so I am attempting to restore this board.

First off this is one of 6 bikes I own, it was recently acquired after being in storage for 17 years, it was insurance totaled after being in a house fire and had most of one side and the rear damaged, I have already bought 80% of all the needed parts already for this bike, and have been through most everything else from the fuel, brakes and other issues, it ran until I put Seafoam in it then just bogged down to barely starting, pulled the carbs, cleaned them, same thing, pulled TCI and all the diodes are junk, its amazing it even ran at all.

I paid $350 for this bike, this weekend I am driving to Anchorage to see a very nice looking but apparently badly running 89 Venture, will be trading some items I rarely use and have had for awhile with no plans to use, in other words no money is being exchanged for the 89, if nothing else it may be a donor bike or get the 1200 engine from the 83 I already have.

From what I gather the Mk1 1200 has more power than the Mk II 1300 engine?

There are rumors that claim MKI's have more power. Same rumors exist in the VMax group that the 1985, 1st year, will outrun all the others.

I have not seen any dyno or drag strip runs to support either.

The 1300 motor has more potential power than a 1200 just by the fact it is 8.3% larger.

In 1983 CYCLE Magazine ran the 1983 XVZ12TK through the ¼ mile in 12.69 seconds at 103.92 mph.

In 1986 CYCLE ran the 1986 XVZ1300 through the ¼ mile in 12.5 seconds and 104.5 mph.

Apples to oranges.

Rider, altitude, humidity, track conditions will all influence times at a drag strip.

It is a start, but side by side dyno's would be more telling.

I would have thought a 1300 to be more of an improvement than this. MPH is 0.5% change and eta is 1.5% change. This indicates hole shot difference between 2 runs.

I replaced bad diodes this morning but its still bad. will get thr ignitech.

As I mentioned earlier, replacing the diodes is only a preventative measure for a working TCI. New diodes will never bring back a TCI that has already failed.
