Jimbob66 Posted July 22, 2013 #1 Posted July 22, 2013 I have a recently new to me 2007 Midnight Venture in my garage. I have to say this bike is very comfortable. However, I'm 6' 5'' and I need to stretch my 36 inch inseam on longer rides. I get some kind of strange hip cramp that wont go away without standing up or stretching. With that said .. I want to install a set of highway pegs to stretch out on. I want them as far forward as is possible. Any suggestions? Anything I should be aware of? The ones I'm looking at are not cheap. Trial and error is not an option here and I don't want to reinvent the .. peg so to speak. Any input would be appreciated
dacheedah Posted July 22, 2013 #2 Posted July 22, 2013 lots of nice pegs out there for the 1" bars, look for something that is adjustable http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/462/Adjustable-Tour-Tech-Cruise-Mounts
Jimbob66 Posted July 22, 2013 Author #3 Posted July 22, 2013 My question is which ones go forward the most ?
eusa1 Posted July 22, 2013 #4 Posted July 22, 2013 I'm 6'6" with 38 inseam i purchased the kuryakn longhorn offset mounts and 1" clamps and have floorboards mounted to them. You can install pegs or boards of your choice on the same mounts. You should get some crash bar support brackets from "carbon one" a member here. They will save your lowers from damage and give you better mounting support. Mike:cool10:
ragtop69gs Posted July 22, 2013 #5 Posted July 22, 2013 Just get some roller skates, stretch out and let them 36's roll along ahead of you.
Jimbob66 Posted July 22, 2013 Author #6 Posted July 22, 2013 I was checking out the kuryakn longhorn'$ and thought those may be for me. Now to convince the wife I "need" them I will check into the crash bar support bracket. Thanks !
dacheedah Posted July 23, 2013 #7 Posted July 23, 2013 tell her we said U need them, do u have pegs for her? Love goes both ways
playboy Posted July 23, 2013 #8 Posted July 23, 2013 Doesn't the longhorn mounts mount to the same clamp as a set of pegs ? Point being you could purchase the pegs and clamps and install the Longhorns later if needed to spread out the cost. I'm 6'3'' and pegs and clamps work fine for me. You know spreading out the cost sometimes helps smooth it over with the wife. I know what your talking about with the hips but I haven't had that problem on the RSV.
Bubber Posted July 23, 2013 #9 Posted July 23, 2013 I have the Longhorns on mine and they are infinitely adjustable. Being 6 foot not 6' 5" makes a difference.
Pic Posted July 23, 2013 #10 Posted July 23, 2013 You should contact Rick Butler to get his seat mod done. Makes a big difference on comfort. Search for Rick Butler under members list.
Jimbob66 Posted July 23, 2013 Author #11 Posted July 23, 2013 Thanks ! I will contact Rick Butler. The seat issue was kind of why I wanted the pegs. Wow you guys really know how to make me want to spend money !
