dysfunctional33 Posted July 22, 2013 #1 Posted July 22, 2013 I have been having fuel mileage issues and irratic running on my 84 VR. one day i would get about 40 mpg and the next day I would get 34 mpg. It would run nice and smooth for a day or two and then run ok but not that great. Ive had the carbs synced twice thank to Orlin. And I really appreciate him doing that for me the first 2 times. Still didnt fix it though. So today I decided I was gonna try and find the problem and check on a couple other things. What I found was that the #1 and #2 carbs were not seated all the way down in the boots. Once I got them seated and fired it up it was running extremely rich, so once again I was off to Orlins for another carb sync. Ran great on the way home afterwards. It felt like a completely different bike. And while at Orlins he discovered a few spots where cords were starting to show on my front tire so while I was there we swapped my tire and rim for one in better condition. Thanks for looking out for me Orlin...... I will let you all know at the end of the week how its running. I will be filling up with a fresh tank of gas after work in the morning...
OrlinEngh Posted July 22, 2013 #2 Posted July 22, 2013 It sounded better when you left, hope the bug is worked out of it. Keep me posted. Orlin
Squidley Posted July 22, 2013 #3 Posted July 22, 2013 That will definitely give you issues, I'm glad to hear that you found it. Now the bike should stay synced right, run a few tanks and let us know how it turns out
