Nemo Posted July 20, 2013 #1 Posted July 20, 2013 I was just hauled home with a flat bed tow truck. That worked out fine, because I didn't get far from home before the motor quit. It's a '99 RS Venture/Trike . It won't start. The tank is full and it cranks fine, but it runs for about 2 seconds. I can hear the fuel pump running continually. Do you think that the fuel pump is just not pumping? Owen.
Rick Haywood Posted July 20, 2013 #2 Posted July 20, 2013 No not the pump it will run if the tank is full even when the pump is out maybe filter could he plugged vacum line. Remove the gas cap and see if it releases pressure cold be a line problem or may not be fuel related at all. Lot of help wasn't I:confused24:
Cougar Posted July 20, 2013 #4 Posted July 20, 2013 Try starting it with the fuel cap off and see if it stays running you could have a clogged vent tube from the gas tank. happened to my a long time ago. when I removed the cap there was a vacuum (swish) sound. had to drill out the little metal vent tube. (rust in it)
Nemo Posted July 20, 2013 Author #5 Posted July 20, 2013 Tried by removing the cap - petcock is open correctly - bad fuel filter seems logical too, so I'll check that later. Thanks everyone.
