Brake Pad Posted July 17, 2013 #1 Posted July 17, 2013 today, I'm going to re-qualify for my open carry. Here in Florida a 168 is required to pass, your test. firing from up to 25 yards. My last I got a 227 (9mm) 95% (.38) @ 231 97% out of a perfect 240 I got to watch 3 Shieff officers fail their courses. scarry !!!!
CaptainJoe Posted July 17, 2013 #3 Posted July 17, 2013 With scores like that it's doubtful mike will need any luck... those two officers on the other hand... Just a thought... those officers probably have to shoot what was issued to them? I've shot handguns that were definately not for me as there seemed to be no rhyme or reason to how they shot...
Yammer Dan Posted July 17, 2013 #4 Posted July 17, 2013 My last requal I shot 49 out of 50. Course of 5 to 50 yards. I ask him what school he went to.
Snaggletooth Posted July 17, 2013 #5 Posted July 17, 2013 A while back I was at a concert when a fight broke out. There were a couple of plain clothes guys there and and it got rough. One of the plain clothes guys went to draw from under his sports coat and fumbled his gun and fell down. Couple a folks reached for the gun and I got my size 12 planted on it before they could reach it. When the cop got back on his feet I pointed to my foot and said "It's cool. Got ya covered." He probably had to take some flack over that. I always hoped and armed officer could shoot well and most I see at the range can. After that I only hoped they could hang onto the dang thing. Hope ya did well at the requal Mike.
Yammer Dan Posted July 17, 2013 #6 Posted July 17, 2013 Forgot to add my good luck Mike!! For every good day on range there can be a bad one..I knew a guy once that on a quick draw at a 15 yd target put in the ground about 3 ft in front of him!! No it wasn't me but it was guy beside me and shook me so much I missed mine but not by that much!!
Brake Pad Posted July 17, 2013 Author #7 Posted July 17, 2013 scores: 9mm 226 out of 240 .38 238 out of 240 never shoot good with the 9's
dacheedah Posted July 18, 2013 #8 Posted July 18, 2013 we have to pass the state training boards test 5 yrd, 10 yrd, 15 yrd and 25 yrd. Not sure what concealed carry will do in Illinois, they are still figuring it out.
Brake Pad Posted July 18, 2013 Author #9 Posted July 18, 2013 we have to pass the state training boards test 5 yrd, 10 yrd, 15 yrd and 25 yrd. Not sure what concealed carry will do in Illinois, they are still figuring it out. its the same here, point plank from the hip, 5 ft 10 ft 15 ft, 20 ft, & 25 ft. our CCW is fire 3 shots, doesn't mater if you hit the target or not. "NOW THAT'S SCARY "
2WHEELSFORME Posted July 18, 2013 #10 Posted July 18, 2013 Florida does not require going to a range to get a CC. Not a shot fired to get mine this year. http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/firearms/acceptable_training_documentation.html
djh3 Posted July 18, 2013 #11 Posted July 18, 2013 When I was in the service I had to get qualified on small arms handgun. Was a silly deal anyways as a lot of govt stuff is. The safe in the office had "secret" and "top secret" documents in it. So if the Ruskies were invading and you were on shift and had to defend it, suposedly you were to use this gun in the safe. So the first weapon they gave me at the range the round part that hold the bullets (I'm having a crs moment right now) rattled so bad in the rest of the frame I told the instructor "you fire it first, and if your hand is still there I may" I looked like something from Korean war. Now I know why Hawkeye wouldnt shoot one. LOL Glad to hear it went well Mike. Nice shooten. Gun control is when you hit what your aiming at.
