tufftom4 Posted July 16, 2013 #2 Posted July 16, 2013 I have had several motors that were seized up Briggs & Stratton and Chevy straight six and I pulled the plugs put lots of PB Blaster in and put the plugs back let it sit and slowly worked it till it freed up and they ran for a long time.
laruplus3 Posted July 16, 2013 Author #3 Posted July 16, 2013 (edited) Tried the easy stuff, starter won't turn the motor. Was running but poorly, one or two cylinders at most. Edited July 16, 2013 by laruplus3 spelling
dacheedah Posted July 16, 2013 #4 Posted July 16, 2013 i take it you pulled the plugs, did you put a wrench on the crank??
Snaggletooth Posted July 16, 2013 #5 Posted July 16, 2013 Don't know which easy route you took but pull the inspection cover on the left side and all four plugs. Then a socket on the crank and see what happens. Not a lot of these motors have seized up.
Flyinfool Posted July 16, 2013 #6 Posted July 16, 2013 Is the motor seized from sitting a log time, or did it seize while you were riding, or did it just no longer turn over? First ting is to get a wrench on the crank and see if it moves. If your lucky it could be a starter issue.
laruplus3 Posted July 18, 2013 Author #7 Posted July 18, 2013 Will put wrench on crank ....stay tuned
laruplus3 Posted July 18, 2013 Author #8 Posted July 18, 2013 Put socket on crank...comfirmed the worst, freed up but locked up again. To service pistons means splitting lower cases correct?
frankd Posted July 18, 2013 #9 Posted July 18, 2013 I'd pull the spark plugs and put some Marvel Mystery Oil in all 4 cylinders and let it soak for a couple of days. A couple of times a day, I'd probably rock the motor crank back and forth because that would distribute the oil and also let you know if progress is being made. If you get it to turn over, then you can take a turkey baster and suck the excess Mystery oil out before you put the plugs back in. If it doesn't get any better, you may have a bent connecting rod or a dropped valve. To disassemble the motor, you have to pull it and then pull the bottom part the crankshaft. This will let you see what's wrong, but to fix anything, you'd have to disconnect the cam chains and pull the heads. The only OEM part that isn't available from Yammie is the piston itself. You may want to consider just replacing the engine. Complete engines are available from Bike Junk yards and also Ebay.

Flyinfool Posted July 18, 2013 #11 Posted July 18, 2013 You said the motor moved a little, did it stop feeling like it hit something or just get stuck? Did this motor seize up while running or just from storage?
