sarges46 Posted July 16, 2013 #1 Posted July 16, 2013 We have just put RSTD bars on Marilyns new to her vstar. I want to get her Kuryakin ISO grips with the wrist thingy. What is the number for this item. I have searched for it and can only find the grip but not both together. Am I a dummy.....wait don't answer that!! But if you can help that would be great.

bongobobny Posted July 16, 2013 #3 Posted July 16, 2013 The wrist thingy is separate but screws on to the end cap of the grips. I ass u me you are referring to the throttle rocker type thing. They can be found on Fleabay and run under $20. If you are referring to the end weights, same deal but they are around $50...
ragtop69gs Posted July 16, 2013 #4 Posted July 16, 2013 I just put iso grips with the rocker on the RSV, there is no way to use the stock bar end weights, the iso grips are longer and ony allow for 3-4 threads of the weight into the bars. You're stuck using the iso weights. sorry I don't have any numbers for you.

If you leave the Kury's end caps off and buy the appropriate 14mm nuts and grind them down and epoxy/force them into the grips you can use them. You just have to cut the rubber ends of the stock grips to act as filler. That being said I sprung for the Kuryakin weights for a better look and less McGuivering...

And I think the 1300 vstar throttle has a dual cable control. Just going in and ordering a set of grips and engine guard today. Then transfer her J+M cb over to the new bike and we will be set for the trip south! She does like the new bike so far. Waiting for a long trip with the new bars to make the final decision. But I am thinking with Marilyn telling me to order the crash bar (not exactly cheap) that she is liking what she has! Hey Bubber...thanks for those kind words of encouragement!
GilliganJ Posted July 16, 2013 #8 Posted July 16, 2013 I got the Kuryakin ISO grips with the wrist thingy to replace the worn out foam grips I have on my 84 MK1 the rubber insert between the chrome cover is real nice and cushy, and the adjustable throttle boss is perfect and looks way better than those plastic ones. HOWEVER to make it so cushy the inside that goes against the plastic throttle is ribbed rubber with not as much contact patch as the old foam so on hot days the grip kept coming unstuck, I finally got a BIG tube of grip glue and really filled that sucker up (to fill in the voids between the ribs) and after a year it FINALLY seems to be stuck! sure hope I don't ever have to remove it! The right side grip has stayed on since original its just the twist grip side that comes loose.

How do the Kury end weights compare to the stock weights, weight-wise ?
