I'm going to be purchasing a new headset for my shorty half helmet. I want a wired set, no bluetooth unless it works with the CB. Let's see what the collective wisdom of the nut house has to say on the subject. If I missed any wired headset makers please let me know.

If you use a particular headset, it would help to know the model number of it.

Just got new edsets 3G, they sound awesome , with the edsets they are modular so parts are easier, sound great and you're back seat passenger can plug their ipod directly in them. They come with everything you need to go, no extra cords to buy.

Dont have a half helmet I have the intercom on. But my 3/4 does. I used the J&M lower end ones and they work. Thats about all I can say about them. Seems to be alot of "swosh" and background noise. Intercom has to be around 14-16 to hear wife and then you just increase the BG noise. Radio seems to need bass in speakers. I bought mic cut out inline switches to help with BG noise. If to do it again I think I would definatly think about investing more in them. HS-8154-b is what I have I think.

Replaced my J&M's and to be honest I have moved them several times at least 20 years old. The mic is not as clear and the audio from the old J&M was the difference between listening to am vs fm. I needed new lower cords and it was time.

The edsets you select what mic you want, wife wanted new ones before the International and could kick me for not replacing them sooner.

Couldn't vote... don't own a 1/2 helmet. However, I do wear Nolan Modulars with N-Comms. They do make systems for 3/4's and 1/2's. It's the only bluetooth system I could find at the time that worked with the bike audio system plus...C/B.... and the GPS/Cell.

How does the cb interface with the N-Com ?

Through a Nolan Honda Stereo Multimedia wire. It's a hard wire that plugs into head set and into our 5 pin audio. Honda and Yamaha use the same plug. So the GPS links to the bluetooth headset, The Cell phone links to the GPS..not the headset, and the bike CB runs thru the media hard wire.... Sounds confusing, but at the time that's all I could find that would allow the CB to be used, answer phone calls, and listen to the GPS/MP3/Phone.... I sure there's a lot beter systems out there now... I'm using the Bluetooth Kit 2 with the older N-Comm 103 helmets.

First off, I wouldn't be caught dead in a half-helmet so, my advice might not be to your tastes but here goes anyway.

Don't get a headset. Just get a J&M Mic setup and wire in some Custom Earplugs with transducers into where the speaker wires would plug into instead. With wind noise, you cannot hear the speakers anyway and with a Half-helmet, there really isn't anywhere to install the speakers. You can put in a mini-stereo plug to plug the earplug wires into.

Custom earplugs with transducers protect you from permanent hearing loss while also improving your ability to hear what is being said.

I've been using this type of setup since 2000 for over 200,000 miles and it works great. I use a little Neosporin smeared over the earplugs to help get them in and to alleviate any itching while I wear them.

As for the Half-helmet, don't get me started... But, you didn't ask for advice on that so, I'll just bite my tongue. :whistling:
